Speech Progress

DS is 18 months, and I've posted that I'm concerned about his speech. Probably too soon to tell, but I have hopes that the verbal explosion I keep hearing about has begun as a trickle...

He has been able to say Mama, Dada, and up for a little while, but in the last two days he has added Nana (for grandma), baby, and uh-oh to his repertoire. He keeps saying all his words over and over.

He seems so happy with himself--I hope it continues!Chat Icon

NOTE: Just edited--meant to write DS. DH speaks pretty well for a guy in his 40s!

That's great about your DH b/c its Early Intervention not Late Intervention.

I say, if the services are out there I'd rather have DS be behind at 18 months then 5 years.

Re: Speech Progress

It sounds like he's gearing up for the "explosion". I'll be honest, it wasn't exactly an "explosion" with my DD either, at least not until recently (the past 3 months or so). She started learning a few new words a week for long time.

I am hoping the same thing happens to my DS (who is 17 months).

Sounds very promising!

Re: Speech Progress

Thats wonderful! Just wait, a few weeks ago DS had maybe 10 words and he didnt say them consistantly then all of the sudden I literally can't keep track, he is repeating words off the TV now and things I say to DH in passing...etc!

Enjoy!!!
