Spent my evening in the E.R. yesterday....
Everything looks like it will be okay (God willing).
I was leaving one of the schools I work in and somehow found myself on the ground. I took a pretty hefty spill right on the sidewalk. Whether I stepped in a hole, lost balance, or just plain tripped, I don't know......
I called my OB/GYN and one of her practicing associates said that since I am just a little bit over 13 weeks, all should be ok. DH and I were not willing to take the chance so we decided to go to the emergency room.
Well, six hours later, I was finally seen and the physician heard a very nice heartbeat of 140. All should be okay although I did endure some cuts and bruises.
What a terrifying situation and I am pretty upset over a few things still, one being my ob/gyn's office lack of concern. ( I feel they could have at least told me to drop in or urge me to at least get it checked out at emergency). I am also concerned regarding my job. I am a Special Ed teacher who travels upwards of 4 hours a day. I don't drive so I bus, train or walk it. I have currently the most intense schedule ever and I have mentioned it to my boss that I am not 100%. The ironic part is my main concern is a child who has become aggressive and instead of him hurting me, I hurt myself outside his school.
I have some tough decisions to make as this is my livlihood and I am constantly trying to think of a way so this could work. At the same time, I am very angry at myself for pushing myself too hard. In the end, I need to do whats best for baby and self.

Re: Spent my evening in the E.R. yesterday....
i'm soo happy to hear you'r okay!! i took a spill when pregnant and its the scariest fall of u'r life..
as for walking, i'm 4.5 months along and i'm also a teacher.. i have serious problems walking up and down the stairs.. fortunatley i dont' have to do that a whole lot but when i do.. by the time i get towhere i'm going i'm pretty beat.. if u'r worried now then maybe (if u have a good boss and a good relationship with your boss.) talk to him/her bout your schedule.. working in 4 diff schools is TOUGH ...

Glad to hear all is ok. Maybe call the doc and ask why they wouldn't suggest being checked out.

Re: Spent my evening in the E.R. yesterday....
Thank Goodness you are okay and I hope feeling better
I am a special education teacher too, both in a school and in homes for several different children after school! It got harder and harder for me as the pregnancy got further along (dealing with aggression, threats, lack of support, traveling, hours, etc) and I had to make a very tough decision, but I honestly could not be happier! Do what is best for you and for your baby!!!
