spin-off back to school shopping.

What are your essentials for DC? and Where do you shop?

Last year I bought-

8 pairs of jeans- regular, boot cut, and skinny.
5 pairs of cargo pants
2 sports outfits
2 dress outfits
10 long sleeve t-shirts
16 t-shirts
2 sweaters
5 hoodies
3 pairs of sneakers
2 slip-on shoes
uggs

I feel like he wore the same things over and over again, yet he has a lot of clothes. Maybe I shop too much in 1 store. I mostly buy from ON and TCP, and dress outfits from the Gap. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it seems like he needs more variety.

Anyone care to share their list?

Re: spin-off back to school shopping.

I wanted to edit and say some of what he has was purchased for last year and should still fit him. I only got him a couple of new things for now but this is his wardrobe for the fall/winter. Most of it does get worn. I am not replacing things that were barely worn.

6 jeans
1 chinos (beige)
1 cargo pants (beige) - barely worn will not rebuy
3 swishy pants (2 black (one lined one not), 1 blue)
3 sweat pants (2 navy. 1 grey)
1 fleece pants (brown)
2 dress slacks (navy, beige)
2 dress shirts (white and blue)
14 long sleeve t-shirts (mixed between t and collar type)
4 ties
1 suit jacket
1 letterman jacket
1 grey polar fleece
1 blue fleece/windbreaker
1 winter coat
1 windbreaker/rain coat
1 sneakers
1 winter boots
1 rain boots

HTH
eta: I shop at Gymboree, Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place, Ralph Lauren (Lord and Taylor) and hand me downs from a good friend. I have yet to have DS try his clothing on from last year, but I think some of his pants will still be able to be worn this fall. I got him some new t-shirts. I will need to get him a new winter coat and sneakers. Sadly the winter coat I got him last year will not fit him this year. It barely made it through one season.

I don't stock up in the beginning of the school year. I buy as I go. But I shop mostly at The Children's Place, Gap and Crazy 8.

Re: spin-off back to school shopping.

I'm not going too crazy. DDis going into kindergarten. We live in NC so it will still be warm here into October so she'll still need to dress in summery clothing.

However, much of her wardrobe is starting to look tired and worn and I can't see sending her off to school like that so I want to buy enough to cover her for the 8 weeks of summer we'll still need to get through before the cooler weather sets in.

So far:
5 dresses
4 T-shirts
2 Blouses
3 jeans

I want some additional casual pants, leggings, a couple of skirts, additional t-shirts.

Re: spin-off back to school shopping.

I really don't plan on buying much at all. I swear they often don't even wear half the stuff I buy.. they have favorites and they kind of stick with them. I have stuff stored away with labels on it because they never got around to wearing it.

The boys will wear their summer clothes probably into late September/early October. Robbie will actually probably wear shorts most of the year.. he prefers them.

Noah will have plenty of hand me down jeans, shirts and sweaters from Robbie. I will usually get him a new pair of jeans and a few new shirts so he's not all hand me downs.

I'll get about 3 pairs of jeans and a pair of cargo pants or the like for Robbie. I'll get about 7 short sleeve shirts and maybe 1 or 2 long sleeved shirts.

They will each get 2-3 sweatshirts or zip up hoodies (they are VERY hard on them)

I'll also wind up buying a pair of black dress pants and a white shirt for band concerts.

They get new sneakers every 3-4 months.

I don't think they need new winter jackets this year.. but we'll see when the time comes.

And socks. Lots of socks.

I usually shop at GAP, Target, Old Navy & Kohl's. I will get some pieces at A&F and Zumies because my older son is a label whore.. but he's also a good kid and I try to make sure that he gets a few things that he really likes.

I'm the same. I buy when I see sales or when they need something.

I usually stock up on track pants and short and long sleeve T shirts.

Re: spin-off back to school shopping.

I've never actually counted as I bought. I just buy throughout the year rather than all at once in the beginning. This year, they will wear a lot in Sept that I bought them last year for May/June that they never wore since it got hot quick but then cold and didn't really get hot again til almost the end of the year, so they have plenty of warm-weather stuff. I just got them a few new things so they'd look "fresh" especially the first week!

ETA: and this is the first year that DD#1 can actually wear a few things (tops) from last year. Pants/dresses/skirts, no way, but tops still fit!

Re: spin-off back to school shopping.

I think last year she had about 15-20 new outfits. This year I am buying much slower. There were a few things she didn't wear more than once and a few things she loved and wore all of the time. I am not into spring and fall clothes. Its either summer or winter. So I bought her a first day of school outfit, backpack etc, and then she will probably wear her nice summer stuff for a few weeks. I also bought 3 outfits for winter so far. Thats about it for now besides new socks and shoes.

ETA I shop at TCP, Oshkosh, Kohls, Old Navy (not as much), Target, Crazy 8, JCPenney, and Sears.
