Spin off to Kids with Allergies-- Question for the Mommies!!
What made you take your DC to the allegerist to get tested? Did they react to something or was it just wanting to know?

Well, I need to take Ava to one. I'm going to take her because I would like to know the severity of her milk and soy allergy and also what else she is allergic to so we don't have any more episodes.

Re: Spin off to Kids with Allergies-- Question for the Mommies!!
We went because he had hives all over his body and the pediatrician said it was probably viral and seemed very NOT CONCERNED Im even thinking of going to a 2nd allergist because the allergist I went to was nothing exciting either -HE sent our ped the records from his office and didnt include WHAT he was tested for... -I called and asked him to mail a copy of all records to my house and A LIST OF ALL THAT he was tested for, his response"oh sure not a problem" wouldnt this be COMMON SENSE to tell the parents and ped WHAT he was tested for ?
ITs so hard to be in this waiting game. He still gets them sporadically, and we're still up in the air.
we may go to Dr. MAyer in smithtown for a 2nd opinion, has anyone been?

Re: Spin off to Kids with Allergies-- Question for the Mommies!!
At my last Pharmaceutical sales job before Ava was born, I called on Dermatologists and Pediatricians all over Long Island. I learned from the Dermatologists about the "Allergy Triad". That is when a child has anyone of 3 Allergic symptoms (asthma, eczema, allergic rhinitis) then they are more likely to have 2 or all 3.
Ava had eczema since she was an infant. So instinctively, I avoided peanut butter until she was almost 2. There was no history of peanut allergy in my family or Dh's. So I made her a sandwich. She had 1 bite. Within in minutes she had welts on her face, neck and chest. I gave her liquid Benedryl and rushed to the Doctor. I should have called an ambulance.
She was tested for everything, and is only peanut allergic. It is very scary, so we try to stay informed and are extremely careful about all foods that we bring into the house and everything that she eats.
