spin-off to name letters: am I the only one not getting them?
It never occurred to me to do it, and it's also not my style... am I the oddball there? I've seen soooo many letter threads over the last 9 months!

Nope. I'm not getting them either. Then again... I'm about 35 weeks and my kid doesn't have a name yet!  But, even if she did, I'm not into the name letters.

I didnt do them for DS and probably wouldnt have had them for DD but my aunt bought them and I liked how it looked so for this one now I want them..I dont think your an odd ball everyone has there own style

i'm not doing them either, I think they are really nice but since we had a muralist paint most of the walls we just don't have the wall space, esp since his name is going to be a long one...

I'm not. I grew up with a ton of personalized things and after a while was stuck with all this stuff that said my name. I personally am not a fan of them

Not sure yet....I did not get them for DS. Instead I got him a hand painted print on a canvas with his name on it and his birth date... I think I like that better

Nope...not getting them. First, because I don't have a nursery, and second I never really understood the point.....it's not as if I'm going to forget what my baby's name is??
Or accidentally put the neighbors kid in my crib and then say to myself "oops, I was supposed to put ____ in there, not so and so!!! Darn, I SHOULD have put up those block letters so I would've known better!!!" 
But, that's just my opinion...some people like 'em, some people don't. However, know that you're not alone!

ok, so I'm not so wierd after all!
we have a lot of fine art on the walls of our bedroom (we're in a 1BR apt), so there's no wall space for something like that, and I think it might detract from the art a bit........

I didn't get them for DS because to me I felt like they are more a girl thing. I will be getting them for this baby though but maybe just her initials.

We do a lot of artistic photography, and are not a fan of the kitschy items for the same reason.

In my childhood room, I had this big wood thing that had my name on it-- I guess it was a precursor to the wall letters now, but it was all attached. Anyway, I just always remember it as being part of my room and I think having something similar will mean a little something to me.
Also, since the room that will be the nursery is now our office, den, 2nd bedroom-- I like the idea of putting the kids name on the wall-- so it will show that they will now claim the space.
We are not painting, or anything really in there-- just getting a bunch of accessories to make it more baby friendly in terms of decor.
