spinof to how you rate your look - does it affects your confidence?
I voted for an average look on Ophelia's thread because I am not sure how to rate me.
Meanwhile, that has nothing to do with my confidence. I feel very secured and confident in my ability. I can walk in a room/ meeting and feel that I have my stuff together. I feel I am treated with "more respect" because of it.
Do you think your look influence your confidence?

I think that how you feel about yourself as a whole affects your confidence.
It's a flip flop
more confidence increases how you think you look
Thinking you are beautiful increses confidence

I think that if you feel good about yourself, that in turn will reflect on your physical look.
You need to be happy and comfortable in your own skin, basically if you love yourself, that will reflect on how others view you.

Re: spinof to how you rate your look - does it affects your confidence?
I have little self-esteem when it comes to my looks... but I tend to have a lot of confidence when it comes to me as a person

Well I am pretty bubbly all the time but I notice that when I wear my glasses I am alot more reserved than when I wear my contacts because I am not as confident about how I look in my glasses.

I feel exactly the same as you do Sophie!
People always *tsk* and tell me that I should have better self esteem, more self love, etc.. when i say that I am unattractive. But it isn't a self confidence issue. I have decent self esteem. I know my strengths. I happen to know that my poor skin, odd colored hair, murky eyes and saggy body do not qualify as beautiful or average.
But I am a KICK *** friend!

You know I don't agree on how you see yourself, yet...yes confidence could be affected by how people think of their look.
I don't think only beautiful people have confidence. Let's look at a lot of successful people. They are not all beautiful yet they exhude self confidence.

I don't think my looks affects my confidence level. Situations affect my confidence more.

I don't think your confidence necessarily comes from having a good hair day. kwim? Its a constant thing, not just day by day.

Re: spinof to how you rate your look - does it affects your confidence?
It definitely affects my confidence. I hate the way I look and I feel like a mess when it comes to my confidence. ETA: not in every aspect of my life, but most. Like, work, it has no bearing and my confidence as a mom, obviously my looks have no bearing on that, but basically everything else.

Re: spinof to how you rate your look - does it affects your confidence?
I think when your outward appearance makes you feel better about yourself, it's a good thing.
But I think you need to have confidence without it too because you cannot always depend on it. Integrity is something I hold in very high regard.
Sometimes the prettiest, best dressed, put together person becomes ugly to me when their personality is sorely lacking.
On the flip side, I could never honestly say if the people I love in my life are conventionally good looking or not. They're all beautiful to me.
