That would really bother me and I don't blame you one bit for being annoyed. I was just walking in my neighborhood the other day with DS in his stroller and an older lady passed me with her dog running around without a leash. Even though it was a smaller dog, I was still nervous and annoyed by that. The dog could have run up and snapped at or jumped on my DS. I wanted to say something to her, but I don't want to make enemies in the neighborhood. Chat Icon

All dogs should be leashed in public except in dog runs for their safety and for others - it's the law!

Against the Law and I would have reported her.

Some people just feel entitled.

I think that is a liability waiting to happen. You know nothing about this random dog and honestly the owner doesn't know anything about the children around the dog (NOT to say that the parents shouldn't be watching the children - but some parents don't watch their children closely at the playground and something bad could happen). I'm not crazy about dogs at playgrounds but on a leash is VERY different than allowing the dog to run free.

Etd to add since there was a no dog sign I would have reported it.

It always annoys me even though I have a dog. My dog, while she is great with kids, she does not get along with other dogs so I always keep her on a leash. So what am I supposed to do when an off-leash dog runs up to her??? She will literrally try to go for the dog's throat!

This has happened and I'm always lecturing the owner of the off-leash dog. There are dog runs and safe places to let your dog off leash - but keeping your dog on leash is as much for the dog's protection as for people.

I am a dog owner and I would never do this. It is irresponsible and it is against the clearly stated rules of the park. What happened to teaching children through example? If we as parents can't follow rules, how can we expect our children to follow rules?

Exactly. And I'm a dog lover and owner. Rules are rules.

No way, no how. First, follow rules! Second, leash it or I will ask you to leave. If you don't, I will.

I think its wrong... I just took my dog to the school down the street from me yesterday.. There was no one there at all .. I know I should not have done it and I would never if I saw anyone in there .. I just wanted my dd to go down the slide a few times .. then I left .. If anyone would have come I would have left immediately and probably been embarrassed because I know it was wrong.. I think its the wrong thing to do and I most likely will not do it again .. I hope I didnt discourage anyone from coming in now that I think about it ,, But it was truly empty and dinner timeish and no one in site,.. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am scared for myself and Family since this happened to us again yesterday at a playground with an owner allowing their dog to run loose with a frisbee and sad to say this happens way too often at the Beach Chat Icon

I am a dog lover, but it would have bothered me.

Rules are rules. They are there for a reason.

I would have asked her nicely to leash the dog, pointing out that there were actually NO DOGS ALLOWED in the park.

If she didn't do it, I would call the police. period.
