Spinoff: Age and getting married
How old were you when you got married? Are you happy about it or do you wish you waited or got married younger??
I was 32 and Im SOOOOO glad i got married in my 30s. I had WAY too much fun in my 20s to be someones wife

i got married a month before my thirtieth birthday and am happy about it! i love my dh and couldn't imagine being with anyone else - so i wouldn't change a thing!

26...I actually always had a timeline in my head, and 26 is exactly when I wanted to get married! I also like doing things in even numbered years...But anyway...
It allowed us to date for several years, finish grad school (well, a glutton for punishment I am now working on my doctoral dissertation), save money to buy our condo, but I am also young enough so that we have had several years married to travel and go on more vacations before having kids.
I was over being single and the dating scene by the time I met DH at 22, but I'm just glad we had the extra time to save money and not have the added responsibilities of marriage. We always knew we'd get married, so I was in no hurry.

I was 25 years old. I was happy that I got married when I did. I knew that I wanted to get married and be a young mom and that's what I did.

I got married 1 month before my 21st birthday. I only wish I would have finished school and been more financially stable...other than that I don't regret it one bit

I turned 24 the week before my wedding. I am happy with when I married. I always hoped it would be around 25 or so.

I'm 24 and got married 2 months ago. When I was younger I always pictured getting engaged at 22/23 married 24/25 and having kids 26/27.
So far I'm right on schedule! Engaged at 22 married at 24 and plan on having kids in 2 years!

Its not like I had a choice. Nobody asked me until I was 35. COINCIDENTALLY, I was ready. I could have brow-beaten an ex boyfriend to propose but I'd probably be a divorced single mom right now and looking back, Im glad we split up. Most of the men I dated in my 20s were truly not in any position to get married - not in terms of finance, but in terms of maturity. Not all men are this way, just the gems I dated.
DH and I did not have a long courtship - 13 months. I think as people get older, the courtships are shorter. My parents dated for 6 weeks and had a 49 year marriage. Granted they dated in 1956, but back then, a single woman at 25 had the same odds of marrying as I did in 2006 at 35. My sister dated her DH for 6 months (she was 33) and she is married for 17 years.
Having done more dating and siphoning out the "bad eggs" I felt that I knew what I wanted a relationship and more importantly, what I DIDN'T want.

I was 38, although DH had been living together since I was 30. So, it wasn't a huge transition to marriage.
