Spinoff, anyone not plannig to tip the garbage men

I for one don't want to, they are so rude and nasty. Just pondering if we don't how much further down the block and in what condition I'll find my garbage cans

I have never tipped my garbage men or mailperson. I would give the garbage men money when they would take something big, but never for teh holidays, and my pails don't get tossed down the street, LOL.

I tip them every Christmas and they take EVERYTHING I put out, plus they always put my pail back all nice!!!

So, I'll keep tipping!!!

I never tipped them , but I have city provided garbage containers and there are 3 different trucks that come at different times.We have recycling,green waste and regular garbage pick up.

They have a salary. You don't need to tip. I wonder what would happen if you called thier supervisor and told them your pails are thrown down the street because you didn't tip...

We tipped them the first year we lived here, but soon realized there's no "regular" crew and it's always different guys. We haven't done it the past few years and probably won't this year.

our garbage men were the worst when we first moved in...the cans were a scattered mess, they were picky with what they took, etc. So, we didn't tip them. The next year we did a lot of construction and made a lot of garbage. We tipped them and they have never been better to us! They'll take anything and the cans are never behind my car! It was a small price to pay for not having to haul some of that construction debris away ourselves.

We have always tipped them for the Holidays, & n when we had extra debris to haul away, but it seems they just don't care, so that is why I'm pondering giving them a holiday tip

I don't tip the garbage men. I tip the mailman because he does go above and beyond....he brings my packages to the door and makes sure they are safe if the weather is bad. So as soon as the garbage men come and get my garbage when the weather is bad, no extra from me. I would even settle for the pails to be some place other then behind my car or in the middle of the street.

I tip ours because they do a good job not because it's the holiday.

If they are consistently throwing your pails down the block, I would skip it. They can't get much worse.

No we dont b/c they always leave a mess and wont take everything, we constantly have to call sanitation and then a supervisor comes to inspect says I dont know why they didnt take it yada yada. All the neighbors complain too.
now our mailman def, he is great!

I think we will tip this year to see if the situation improves. They always throw the cans down and the attached hinge tops break and the cans block the entry to our driveway.

The sad part about this is that I would gladly tip them ... but ... in six years of living here we have had to chase the pails from all over the neighborhood. When they learn to do their job correctly, I will tip them. Until then ... forget it!

I'm def. tipping mine, and I do every year since we moved in. They take ANYTHING I put out, so to me it is well worth it, especially when I hear stories from my friends of the problems they have with their garbage collectors.

My mom will give them snacks and water during the year if they pick up a huge amount of garbage but I don't believe she tips them. We are long gone before ours come so we never see them

I wont be tipping my garbage men. They are HORRIBLE!!! They pick and choose which bags they are going to pick up, they leave the cans in the middle of the street, nasty nasty nasty attitudes. The NYDS in my area are a bunch of little divas. My Father and Brother are both NYDS in Brooklyn and they work their azzes off.

Im not. We never see them and our pails are sometimes in the street and sometimes put back nicely. I don't think they are the same people at every pick up.

I always tip. Maybe because my brother is a garbage man.
I wouldn't tip if my cans were all over or if they left trash on the ground.
Plus, we had so much trash from all the baby stuff this year as well.

I don't know, we live in a society where we are now expected to tip the person who is already paid to make a cup of coffee. Where does it end?

I think holiday tipping is out of control. I did tip my hair dresser today, the same amount as the cut.
