Not at all. They've never had a confrontation but after the things my MIL has done, forget it.

those of you whose parents and in-laws get along don't know how lucky you are! My mother HATES my mother in law. My mother in law is currently living with us, and my parents live across the street. Because of this, my mother and I no longer speak - and living here is a nightmare!

they are civil, but they don't talk or do anything outside of our wedding.  I was hoping it'd be different.

MIL likes my parents, buy my mom/step-dad think she's wacko... They don't dislike her, persay (though they're bitter that she didn't give more for the wedding). But basically, they think she's nut's. They get along okay though. Then they think that FIL is anti-social (which he kind of is  )
As for my Dad/step-mom... they like my inlaws well enough, but don't see them often since my dad lives in VA.

my parents and MIL get along GREAT...(I don't have a FIL)
I think it is something that my parents work very hard on - all of my grandparents were very friendly...and my mom wanted the same I think. At first I don't think my MIL expected it (especially since they live very far apart), but my MIL really appreciates it now. so it makes things great for our children!

mine get a long but lets just say would never be best friends.
They have mutual respect for one another but really are COMPLETELY different people with diff. backgrounds.

I wish they knew each other better....
my parents who are still married live in Queens, and my DH's parents who are divorced live far - his dad in the Hamptons and Mom in NC. They have only met in person twice.

they get along when they are together they don't have much in common with one another butt hats ok with me. My MIL is way out there and glad they dont' spend much time together
