Spinoff: Gifts for daycare teachers?

Am I supposed to give gifts to my DD's daycare teachers? She just started in January so I am not sure what the norm is. I know I will give gifts for the holidays, but should I also give gifts for the end of the school year?

There is one teacher who I know will not return in Sept b/c of her college schedule. I am sad b/c she is one of DD's favorites. All the rest will still be there in Sept.

DS started @ his daycare last July. Around Christmas, two mom's organized the collection of money for gifts for the two teachers.

The only other "gifts" I have given was on the 2 occassions when we had late pick-up (after hours) I gave the teacher that stayed. $10 Dunkin Donuts gift card.

Also, one of DS' favorite teachers is graduating HS in a week, so I gave her a $25 Visa gift card.

I'd suggest maybe agift card for the teacher that is not returning.

Because day care is 12 months per year, there is no end of the year per se. We give gifts for the holidays in December, but not at the end of the year. Next year, when they have "graduation" for my then four year old, it may be different.

I had the same question, though we ahve been there since Sept. I asked around and think it is a norm to give a gift, but not expected.
I think I am going to give gc for a mani/pedi. to each of the teachers (3), nothing big as we give at the holiday as well, but I love the place and will be returning in the fall with DS and now DD.
