Spinoff: Moms who get out and about/go on playdates...

For those of you who go out quite often, whether it be to run errands, go to group classes or playdates...

Do you go showered/cleaned up with makeup, hair done, etc.? Or do you just do the bare minimum: brush teeth, brush hair, wash face, etc.?

For those who answer the above question, can you tell me how many children you have and what their ages are?

I'm asking because when I had just one DC, it was much easier for me to get "dolled-up" (I'm using that term loosely) especially as she got a little older. Now that I've added an infant to the mix, I very rarely find time to shower (my DS isn't big on napping.) Chat Icon I'm hoping things will improve once my DS hits the 3 month mark and he gets into more of a routine. Chat Icon

My girls are 2.75 and 1.

I ALWAYS do my hair and makeup, no matter what. Trust, me though...my hair isn't exactly high-maintenence. Chat Icon Also, I do all of this before my DH leaves for work. I get up around 7:15am. Even if it meant I had to get up at 6:15am, I would probably still do it--that's the time I used to *leave* to go to work...so it's really not a big deal. Plus, if I don't "do" myself, I feel like a loser, but that's me!

Re: Spinoff: Moms who get out and about/go on playdates...

In the beginning...No.

Now that DD is just shy of 1 yr she's very consistent with her nap schedule and I'm able to grab a shower in the early morning and dry my hair/makeup while she plays either in the bathroom with me, or in the living room. I usually do this when I've got somewhere to go (like this morning - Music Together)

The older she gets the more self sufficient she is with entertaining herself.

But most days, I don't shower. I always wash my face though and throw a little powder on my face.

I've gotten more comfortable with my "au naturale" state

I always shower in the AM. I usually do it before DH leaves for work. If I can't do it then I'll do it when they nap.

I have an 8 year old that gets on the bus at 8:30, a 1 year old and a 2 month old.

I don't wear makeup so that's one less thing for me to do. If I did then I'd probably throw some on. However, even when I worked full time I never wore makeup except lip gloss.

When we do go out to run errands, playdates, GTG, appts, it is always after nap and lunch time unless where ever I'm going to I'll be feeding them lunch.

I leave the house no earlier than 12:00 and come no later than 3:00.

I am showered and dressed (in extremely comfty clothes like capri's and tess... never sweats) from the moring so basically I'm good to go. My hair always up b/c I HATE it down. If I liked it down it would be down.

We don't go out everyday but we get out at least 2 times a week. Come the great weather we'll be out daily!

During the summer I dont; worry about napping schedules; I'm not as rigid.

Ok I'm going off topic now!!!

I'm up between 5:30-6 am usually. My DH is still home so I shower, make myself up and dress before he gets up - around 7:15 or so. I always put on make up and do my hair. It makes me feel put together. I like to be ready before the kids wake up so I can get out of the house whenever I manage to get them fed, dressed and ready to go. Plus, my ds, like yours, frowns on napping and general good moods throughout the day so if I don't do it in the morning, I won't get a chance.

My DD is 21 months and DS is 5 weeks. I'm hoping DS will grow out of his grumpy, wanting-to-cry all the time stage soon though.

I only have one child- and I don't get "dolled up" but I do more than just natural.

I usually pony tail it- and then do a powder, blush, mascara and lip gloss thing...

as for clothing- I'm a jeans and tee type of girl- but I throw on some fun earrings and a trendy necklace to make myself feel "hip".. ha ha.

All told- it's about 5-7 minutes of getting ready.

I do the bare minimum. One child, unless you count DH, age 5 1/2 months. This is an improvement over the frist month and a half or so when I was lucky to get a shower every few days.

I have an almost 11 months old.

I shower in the am, dress somewhat nicely, try to put on lip gloss do something. Absolutley nothing special! I miss getting dressed up for work every day.

I just feel better that way.

I only have one now(preggo with #2) but I do my hair and makeup everyday. I have never gone out of the house "undone" and plan to do the same with #2. I know it's going to be a challenge though.....

Dolled up - no way, but I'm clean Chat Icon
I have a limiited wardrobe with BF and the baby weight so there's not too much excitement in what I wear - usually jeans, a nursing tank and a rotation of cardigans. I do put on make-up but just a little - concealer for the bags under my eyes is a necessity!
I only have one - DS is almost 9wks.

I try to get out of the house whenever I can and yes I always do my hair and makeup. Nothing crazy just throw some mouse in and diffuse...I also don't wear alot of makeup.

I must say before DS I straightened my hair EVERYDAY but since he's been born it's been curly. It needs to be colored soooo bad and haven't made it to the salon. Now that i'm thinking about it I probably wouldn't have time to straighten it anyway...lol.

Re: Spinoff: Moms who get out and about/go on playdates...

If I am just running to the supermarket, them I don't do make-up. But if I am going somewhere then I do my hair and make-up.

my hair SUCKS right now because I have not had JHS since last March, so it's partially grwn out, so I am forced to straighten it. So I usually do that when she naps. I am DEFINITELY getting it done again when I am done BFing. It's just so much easier and I can wash and go!

I am getting it colored this weekend thoughChat Icon

DD is almost 8 months. I find that if I don't do it right after I feed her in the morning, my shower just won't happen until DH comes home. I can't deal with that so I do everything I can do get it in....even if she cries for 5 minutes (since she won't let me out of her site lately). I would do it while she napped but the BR is right next to her room and she is a very light sleeper. Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff: Moms who get out and about/go on playdates...

I shower.

I don't dry my hair because it doesn't need it. I rarely do the make-up thing - DH says he prefers me without, and I hate to kiss DD and get lipstick on her - and I kiss her all day long!

I also have my own business so I usually do a little work in the a.m. before we go out.

She's 11 months old, but this is pretty much what we've been doing since day 1.

Re: Spinoff: Moms who get out and about/go on playdates...

It's been harder to shower lately now that DD doesn't do her morning nap anymore. I do have time to brush my teeth, wash my face, do hair, and put on makeup. Then I throw on jeans, a long sleeve T and out we go. I shower during her afternoon nap lately. But I'm going to start trying do do it at night. DD's 18 months old. I can't imagine getting myself ready with DD and an infant.

My DS is 7.5 mos. and if we go out whether it is to our music class, to the park, to meet a friend, or shopping I always shower, fix my hair, and put a little make up on. I either shower in the morning when my DH is still home or during my DS morning or afternoon nap. If we just stay home their are some days where I may not shower until my DH comes home from work. I try my best not to do this because I always feel lousy when I do not shower until later in the evening.

I can totally understand how difficult it must be with two. I am expecting another baby in October and I know it will be a lot more difficult to get myself together. If you can you should try to shower in the morning before your DH leaves for work.

Re: Spinoff: Moms who get out and about/go on playdates...

I only have one 26 month old so it's easy for me to say I "get ready" (hair and a little makeup) every day. I really don't know what routines I'm going to toss out the window if I have a 2nd kid!

I get up early with DH, even though I could probably sleep an extra 45 minutes or so before DS wakes up. I get dressed, fix my hair (super low maintenance curly hair: wet it, scrunch with gel, let dry) and put on some light makeup. I shower at night after DS goes to sleep, but I've ALWAYS showered at night.

There are beauty things I abandoned after just having the ONE child though.... flat-ironing my hair is a thing of the past, as is nail polish on my fingernails. The flat-ironing takes too much time, and the childcare/housework seems to destroy my manicure so I just gave up.

This is one reason why I am getting the Japanese Hair Straigtening on Friday.

I am more of a getup and go type of girl - I want to be able to step out of the shower and not worry about anything. I keep things pretty basic though when we are running around all day. Lipgloss and that's about all.

My DD is 21 months. It depends if its a morning playdate or an afternoon. I usually run the treadmill during her nap and then shower so if its morning, I usually put some concealer and lipgloss on and off we go. In the afternoon, after my shower, I always put on make up and do my hair.

DDs are almost 19 months. Depends whether or not I plan on working out or gardening while DDs are napping. Like today - the plan was to walk and spend the day at home. They are napping, so I'll go out and do my gardening, then shower. On days that we have a playdate, then I will shower before they get up and get ready (makeup, jeans, etc.). HTH!

I only have one child- she's almost 2 1/2.
I take a shower first thing in the am (always have-can't function otherwise-lol), she gets a cup of milk, watches a little show, I get my 5 minute shower. I get ready: makeup, hair dried, etc...she's watching me, playing w/ her toys, etc...
So yes, I always get "ready", but I only have one, when we decide to have 2, well, that may be another story!!!

2 kids, 3 years & almost 2 years.

I shower, let my hair air dry. Throw on jeans or sweats & tee. No make-up. No contacts. But I'm not very girly, I'm awful at the hair and makeup stuff, I always end up looking like a 5 year old who got into her mom's makeup.

Re: Spinoff: Moms who get out and about/go on playdates...

I always shower at night.

In the AM I am ready to go...usually hair curly.

A lot of the time I am out walking and sweating at a park.

If I go to a meetup, my hair is always done, so is makeup.

I do it in stages since I get out the door with 2 boys...mine is 17 months, the other is 16 months.

The highchair during breakfast is my saving grace. Then I strap them into double stroller, that is my quick makeup/teeth brushing time.
