Spinoff of all these Anna Nicole Threads...
Not sure if I'm phrasing this right, but here it goes:
If someone dies young or tragically, do you think it automatically changes people's perceptions of them?
I've been a little surprised by how positive some people are about her in the news and here on LIF when a week ago the same outlets/people would be trashing her.
Do you think it's a perception change or guilt or what?

Good question. I guess because it was so stunning to hear even though she always looks like she is on something.

I think it's just people's way of dealing....
We can all laugh and make comments when someone makes mistakes, or does something foolish, but this woman lost so much in so little time and then she died herself.
It's more the tragedy of the event than anything - no one would ever wish this pain on anyone.

I see what you are saying. I think it's tragic when anyone dies young. as far as anna nicole goes, i think her whole life was a tragedy, so i think her dying as young as she was completes the circle, so to speak.

Re: Spinoff of all these Anna Nicole Threads...
The way I feel, and I am only speaking for myself, its just a human thing. She was a human being and while I did not necessarily care for the decisions she made in life and what she did, its a human response to feel for her. I think she was a really "lost" person who in the end, didnt have a chance to live a full life. I somehow knew her life was going to end tragically. But it doesnt make it any less of a shock..I guess too, its the circumstances behind it. I think a lot would feel differently if she just all of a sudden died..but the fact that her son died so recently, she has a baby girl, the whole paternity suit, now her, a lot goes into it. For the most part, my heart breaks for that baby. Every baby comes into this world the same way, and totally innocent. Its just unfair her life has to start out like this.

Re: Spinoff of all these Anna Nicole Threads...
I think anyone's death brings out memories and good feelings of that person......mostly.
I honestly don't think that she was a BAD person, maybe just a little misguided and confused.
All in all she was a pretty harmless, quirky girl who tried to live HER life the best way she knew how.
What I really love is how a lot of people try to pass judgement like they knew her. We don't know her, so who are we to say what is right and what is wrong?
She died, it's sad, that's it.

Agreed, but there is a difference between speaking ill and suddenly praising her as if she lived this glorious life. KWIM??

Re: Spinoff of all these Anna Nicole Threads...
I don't really think I've heard that she was a role model. I mean, she turned her life around somewhat...but I think she ultimately would have gone back to what she was. does that make sense?

I haven't really heard anyone praising her, per se, but I know what you mean. It's like going to a wake for a criminal and hearing everyone say how great they were. Or for a dad who abandoned his family, about how he was such a great person. You're like "Are you serious, they were terrible when they were alive, what makes it different now?"

Re: Spinoff of all these Anna Nicole Threads...
I know what you are saying.
But the fact of the matter is she was a human being. As humans (I hope) we all feel sorrow at the loss of another, especially if it is tragic or untimely.
Also, she had such a tragic life in many ways. Especially recently. The loss of her son, the paternity issue of her daughter, getting kicked out of her house in the Bahamas, her ongoing court battles, etc...
Finally, she leaves behind a helpless baby girl whose paternity isn't even determined yet. What will happen to this baby girl. That's what makes me the saddest.

i agree with the point you're trying to make. Its sad that she died, and esp so young, and that her life was one big tragedy from the beginning, but i too was surprised at how positive she was being painted.

i totally agree. it's not like she was a monster murderer, pedophile, etc. she made some mistakes, didn't make the best decisions with her life. and ultimately, she paid with her life. it's a tragedy all around.
and regardless of all the poor choices she made, i didn't expect the news/media/people to continue to trash her and her past. if they did, they'd certainly be flamed for it.

yes, I definitely know what you mean. I think that she had a troubled life and was by no means a saint....but I will not sit here and call her a gold digger or a whore....that is wrong

Re: Spinoff of all these Anna Nicole Threads...
Guilt totally.
No-one is expected to, nor should Die young. We want everyone to live long happy lives.
When they dont, the mistakes are often forgotten in lieu of the tragic nature of their NOT living the fullest life.
My opinion anyway.

Please. So we should not talk ill of Hitler because he is dead? Not to compare Anna Nicole, but to say we should not speak ill of the dead is...just odd. I would never go so far as to say she deserved to die, because very few people do, but I think we all deserve the right to call a spade a spade when it came to her life.

I think stephanief was referring to regular people, not Hitler, etc..... I THINK she is also referring to the fact that some people are superstitious about speaking ill of the dead.
I will repeat myself by saying that we did not know her and we only know what the media wants us to know, therefore how can we judge?

I never said she was a saint. I think when it boils down to it, she is dead and her baby daughter is left motherless...that is the worst part for me. She lived her life how she lived it.......now she is gone and her poor baby is left to suffer. There is no good that can come out of talking $hit about her. That is all I was trying to say, didn't think that was a crazy notion
