Spinoff of kids & public bathrooms - Daughter related

Another Mom who has a daughter my DD's age (4) told me that she wants her DH to take her DD in the public ladies room if he is out with her alone. Not into the men's room. She is petrified of her daughter being in a men's room and seeing strangers at the urinals, even if it's in passing. She had a point since you never know what perv would get a thrill out of "accidentally" flashing himself for a small girl to see. Plus she just felt that the mens stalls must be awful. However, I cannot imagine that my DH would ever be on board with entering a ladies room.

Would you ask your DH to do this? Would he? How would you feel if you saw a father enter the ladies room with a small daughter? Or even a little older (7 yrs old or so)?

I personally wouldn't care if I saw a father since it's all in the stalls anyway. If that's what he needs to do to feel his daughter is safe, that's fine. I just cannot picture my DH ever being willing to do it. This is why I like the portable potty seat in the car but that's not always possible either.

Emma and Daddy have gone out together. He took her into the mens room. I couldn't imagine making a grown man go into the ladies room, i can understand, well almost undestand, the logic of not wanting her daughter to see anything unnecessary but if the daddy looks in to make sure no one is "standing around" it should be a okChat Icon

My DH would never go into a ladies room. Ever, I just know him! I think he would take her into the men's room or look for one of those unisex family care rooms.

I was with DC today, and DS had to go. I of course took him to the men's room, but I had DD with me as well. With two DC of different gender, someone is going into the "wrong" bathroom....

I would be VERY uncomfortable going into the ladies room, and would worry about having the cops called or something because someone thought I was a peeping tom or something.

Millions of girls have gone into the mens room with their fathers..... and millions more will continue to do that.

Very few men would expose themselves to a little girl when their father is right there.... men know that if they ever want to use that body part again, you NEVER expose it to a little girl when the father is there....

I would never ask my husband to go into the ladies' room. I find that rather strange. I guess I'm more laid back and think the chances of some perv flashing himself in the men's bathroom are pretty slim. And even if she did catch a glimpse of some peesh, she wouldn't know the difference.

Honestly, my DH would beat someone to their death if some perv flashed my daughter, so I don't worry about this (and I've got a few years before we get to this stage). I think I would feel more uncomfortable with a man in the ladies room.

Also, I've always heard that mens rooms are cleaner than ladies rooms.. don't know if that's true or not, but it's what I've heard.

I used to clean bathrooms at the parks during a summer job in HS. The mens' room was tremendously cleaner than the womens' room. Everyone hated cleaning the ladies room, since it would always take 2 or 3 times as long..... Chat Icon
