We never expected anyone to pay for our furniture, but we are very fortunate in that our parents offered and did pay for both DC's furniture.

I was never under the impression that others expected others to buy their DC's nursery furniture, but maybe I'm out of the loop.

My dad bought all of his furniture and bedding.

we bought all of our furniture - i can't imagine that anyone would be generous enough to spend that kind of money!

i did have the furniture on our registry but that is only so we could get a 10% discount if we bought it after DS was born (which we didn't). i took all of the furniture off the registry as soon as we purchased it.

My in-laws bought both my boys their furniture, unexpected but totally and utterly appriciated.

We bought both sets of furniture for our children.

My MIL bought the crib for our son.

my mother bought the crib and his the changing furniture.
We didn't expect it at all, were shocked that they wanted to. It was really nice of them to help us out!

We bought our crib and the dresser. My mom bought the changing table for me after the fact. (I originally didn't think that I wanted one.)

I know a lot of people whose family bought their nursery furniture. I didn't really think that it was that uncommon.

I actually think it's a great idea for people to put it on their registry if they are getting furniture from BBB or BRU. A few people could chip in to get them something they really need.

I know that if I registered for it (I didn't - I got mine from Behr's) that my aunts would all chip in and want to get me a piece. They actually did that for the chair and ottoman.

We bought ALL the nursery furniture. We would never expect anyone to buy it for us. As we would not otherwise expect them to furnish any other room in our house.

No one........most of my stuff was hand me downs!!

My aunt gave me the crib, dresser and changing table plus book shelves all matching from my little cousin. My MIL gave us the glider at my baby shower.

we never expected it. But my mom bought her entire furniture set, mattress, and even her arms reach co-sleeper! She's a great Mommy!!!!!

My in laws bought 3/4 of our nursery furntiure. What we ended up wanting was more than they had given us. They were very generous and we were extremely grateful.

We bought all of the furniture ourselves. Everyone was telling me to put it on the registry so they can help but I just didn't feel right registering for such expensive stuff.

My DH's family bought the crib and the changing table/dresser.

My mom wanted to buy Ryan's crib - and she got me my glider for Christmas (I asked for it in lieu of silly things I didn't need).

my parents (divorced) split the cost of my nursery furinture (crib, dresser and dresser with hutch

we never "expected" anyone to buy our furniture. My parents and inlaws split all the furniture.

My parents bought all of the furniture
and my IL's purchased the bedding.

We didnt expect or ask for it, but it was something they wanted to do.


ETA- I read the thread you are referring to and I dont think anyone on their "expected" anything.

Just like this thread, those who had family help- seemed very appreciative!

Well my parents bought the first set - but DH and I had been planning to buy it ourselves they asked us if they could help us with anything for the baby and so they gave us the furniture as a Christmas gift.

We are buying baby #2's furniture ourselves.

I know this won't be a popular answer but...Honestly until these boards I never heard of other people buying furniture for you or for that matter putting furniture on your registry. Although my parents are EXTREMELY generous with us - I will say until I read these boards I never heard of anything being expected to be bought for you. I was raised if you want something you buy it for yourself and to be thankful for anything that was bought for you. I was also taken aback when I see people complaining about someone who dared to buy a gift off of their registry.

Both sets of parents bought our furniture. And DH's aunt bought the crib.
