Spinoff to 5k training...which ones are you doing?
Okay, enough is enough - I am going to do a 5k this summer!!!!!
I need to sign up for one ASAP or I will never do it 
Any good ones in particular? I like the idea of training for a goal as well. I want to sign up and have a date/deadline

the summer park series is good.. they are on monday nights, but not all are 5k (some are 10k or 5 mi)

I'm in the city, adn there is a 5 mile race this weekend in Central Park that I am considering. I have never run a race, and my sister (my new running buddy) is out of town. But I am thinking about it.
Anyone wanna join me?

Anyone wanna join me?
I would love to do a race in NYC but I can't this weekend. When another one comes up, let me know if you need another running buddy and I'm in. 
I'm going to try to register for the 5 mile in Heckscher Park in East Islip on 8/4. I figure it gives me 8 weeks to get ready. I grew up in East Islip and always used to run in that park when I lived there. I say try to register for it because it may be closed to new registrants. I'll have to find out tomorrow.

Okay I DID IT!!!!
I signed up for the Thunder Run in Hauppauge on 7/20 - this gives me 1 month to train
I am so excited!!!!

OMG you should do one I am soooooooooooo excited!!  
Yeah not worried about 3 miles but I do want to work on my time. Right now I am looking to shave 10 minutes off of my time - I wonder if I can do that in a month 
Dawn I am doing it with 2 other people but you are more than welcome to sign up - it is for a great cause which makes it all the better  Unfortunately though I need to get in a zone when I run so I will be on my own but we can always meet up in the beginning and afterwards! My friends are doing there own thing as well (one is a guy and the other is a much slimmer, faster, younger girl ).

hmmm - I was going to do a 5K on 8/13 (in prep for a 10K in Sept), but maybe I'll do this one - the other one wasn't really calling to me. I hope there are still spots.

This is another link which has some races listed. There's a Women's 5K on 7/19 sponsored by Arrow Exterminating that I signed up for as well.
