Spinoff to 6 months BF schedule.... does your 6 month old STTN?

And if so.... how many hours? How did you get him/her to do so? Are they in their crib? Do they take a paci? How do they self soothe?
Sorry for all the questions, but my EBF 6 month is still waking 4x a nightChat Icon

how many hours? approx 9 hours straight, sometimes he wakes up & I'll feed him & he goes back down for about 2-3 more hours.
How did you get him/her to do so? He does it on his own. I haven't done CIO or anything, yet! I rock him to sleep and that's it.
Are they in their crib? He sleeps in his crib.
Do they take a paci? Sometimes.
How do they self soothe? He doesn't yet.

Re: Spinoff to 6 months BF schedule.... does your 6 month old STTN?

yes my EBF'ed 6mo has been STTN since 4wks old. currently she sleeps 11hrs.

i always woke her during the day to eat. at night i let her tell me when she was hungry. i did this so she would know the difference between night and day. i like to think that made a difference, but honestly she was sleeping 4-5hr stretches when she came home from the hospital.

ETA: yes she is in her crib, has been since 4wks.

she does not take a paci, but has started sucking on her two fingers since she started teething.

i would suggest the following: pick a feeding you want to get rid of first. perhaps a feeding thats closest to midnight. if your DC nurses normally for 10mins, i would start to pull him off after 5 mins. if he starts to cry nurse him for a few more mins. if he fusses, rock him or put him in swing or do whatever you do to calm DC. if DC doesn't cry or fuss at all and goes to sleep on his own, try it the next night. slowly, decrease the time from 5mins to 3 mins then try 2mins and nothing. his stomach and body needs to get used to not eating at that time. i think his body is just conditioned to wake up not because he is actually hungry.

keep doing that for other feedings. i would do this over CIO because i don't think i can do it, but if you can, try that too!

My EBF 4.5 month old has been "STTN" since 9 weeks. I say "STTN" because she always sleeps 10-12 hours a night but sometimes she will get up once to BF. Never more than once and sometimes straight through.

She has been in her crib since 3 months (was in a bassinet but not in our room before that); she gets a pumped bottle before bed and I try to make it a really full bottle (sometimes I'll combine two pumping sessions into one bottle so her belly is very full before bed); we use the homedics sound machine and light projection every night; she was swaddled until 4 months (now she's rolling everywhere and sleeps on her belly); she sucks her fingers or thumb to soothe herself (will only take a paci if she is EXHAUSTED and inconsolable which thankfully isn't too often).

Good luck!!!
