Spinoff to a Post: Has Anyone Met a President?
Sadly, the only one I ever met was our current President, three years ago. Laura Bush held a conference I was invitied to attend. I have to say, she is a good speaker, though I don't agree with her husband's policies at all. It was an interesting experience though, eventhough I would have preferred to meet almost any other president in my lifetime.
You don't get much time with them, you are supposed to tell them your name and that's it. Though I did get asked a question, so I answered it. And I had to ditch the glass of wine I was drinking--apparently not proper to have a drink in one's hand when meeting the president and his wife.
Just curious, anyone else?

I worked in the White House under Clinton (or should I say for Clinton  ) in 1999. Love him!

No problem! It was a conference called Helping America's Youth, and Laura wanted to know what I did. I'm a children's librarian (as was she), so she asked me some questions about where I worked and did I enjoy it, very general.

My brother does a lot of work with the Democratic Party
He's met Bill Clinton many times...and all the other nominees as well

it's not a current pres but..the president of a previous company I worked for held a party for Joe Biden & I got to hear him speak in person & shake his hand.

I wish so bad that I could have met Ronald Reagan - my hero. 
My great-grandmother was a baker at the White House for President errr Taft? I want to say it was Taft - my Dad always told us it was the fat President and if memory serves right - that is William Howard Taft!

No.... the closest I have come was having the 2004 presidential debate hosted at my college, and having Obama eating dinner at the same restaurant as me and DH the night we got engaged.

My GGmother died before I was born but I've been told she was a phenomenal baker. It is in the family - my Dad is the best cook AND baker everrrrr. I try to learn from him!
Apparently, she was the like 'head' baker or whatever!
Little do we know she probably just perpetuated his problem w/ obesity

No, but my dad has. He worked on the WWII Memorial in DC and met a lot of well known politicians and a few celebs on that project.

George H.W. Bush spoke at Hofstra in 1997 and come to my poli scie class to answer questions. I have pics He was really nice to all of us!

I met Jimmy Carter at a book signing (just across a table from me). We exchanged a couple of brief words - he was so pleasent. It was definitely one of those surreal moments.
Another time in DC on Inauguration Day when Bill Clinton was sworn in in '93, his motorcade drove right past DH and I on 21st Street. It was the end of the day and hardly anyone was even walking down the street. I have a picture of him and Hillary in the limo.
