Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
We use initials of our loved ones. I am not into the whole naming after someone (although technically G has the Italian version of my grandfather's name, but no one called him that), but I like to think that it is nice to honor someone.
All of the grandparents but one, plus DH's name in Italian, plus a dear dear friend of ours that passed right before our wedding all have the first initial G, so we narrowed it down to G names.
The other grandparents and my great-grandparents all have A, so that is what we are looking at this time

DS was named after my FIL
DD was going to be named Matteo if she was a boy, so we made the name feminine and it's Mattea!

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
Ryan means Little King - we wanted a nice Irish name
Patrick is DH's name. DH said all along he wanted to use his dad's name as a middle name (Edward) but Ryan was born 3 days after St. Patrick's Day and the day before DH's birthday - so we just had to go with Patrick (plus it sounds nicer)

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
Abigail Johanna-We were originally going to name her Johanna after my great-grandmother but I didn't like the idea of her being called "Jo" or "Jo-Jo" so it became the middle name.
DH and I wanted something traditional and the only thing we could agree on was Abigail.
If we were to have a boy we would have used my fathers name with my granfathers last name, since he suddenly passed away when I was 4 months preggo.

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
DDs first name is after my dhs late father and middle name my dh picked.. he said a rose is a delicate flower and so is his dd so therefore her middle name should be rose.
This time around middle name if boy is after my father and if girl her middle name will be a handed down middle name on my side... not sure on first name we havent officialy decided we dont have any name with any connection to the family picked out. Wish we did tho.

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
Ariel was named after the Little Mermaid b/c I thought she was so pretty..(I know Im a dork..I was 21 what else can I say)..her middle name is Jae to commemorate her guardian angels...
Jaedyn was named Jaedyn b/c I saw the name in an article in my OBs office when I was preggo with her...Luisa is her grandmothers name...Hope..b/c all it takes is a little hope...(again Im a dork)
Alexis was named Alexis b/c there was a really cute little girl on Sesame Street that was named Lexi and I thought she was just adorable...Deanna is my mother...Faith b/c all you need is a lot of Faith..(yep still a dork)
Caden was named Caden b/c DH liked it when he saw it and it was the only name we could agree on...James was b/c in case Caden became an issue with my older daughter being named Jaedyn we could call him CJ...Aron is for his grandfather.
Funny how people come up with names isnt it????
Im Heather b/c I was suppose to be born on Christmas. But then I came 2 weeks early so my mom didnt think it was close enough.. ..so she had to come up with something else quick. Heather was a very popular name in 1972 apparently.

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
Katherine Emer: I always just loved Katherine and Emer is an Irish name and I wanted an Irish name, not an "Irish-American" name, KWIM? I had liked it before and then we both read 'Tis by Frank McCourt and there was a character by the name of Emer in it--so that was it.
Abigail Bridget: Abigail is named after Abigail Adams and my grandmother.

Ummm.... well...
my husband is a huge star wars fan and we picked the name Jacen (Jason) a long time ago (its from the star wars books).
I liked that we can call him Jace for short.
His middle name is Steven, after my husband.

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
I heard the name Caden somewhere on tv when I was very early on in my pregnancy and fell in love with the name. When we found out we were having a girl we changed the spelling to Kaydyn. My husband loves angels so he wanted her middle name to have angel in it....so Kaydyn Angelique it was.

Marianna is DH's paternal grandmother, Emma is my paternal grandmother.
Both our fathers are deceased, so we found a way to celebrate and honor them. If she had been a she would have been Charles Joseph (middle name of my father, and DH's father).

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
I conceived a few months after my father died. We planned on using my Dad's first name and my maiden name as the child's middle name regardless of the sex. We decided on Caelan Louis for a girl and Vincent Louis for a boy. I asked Rob if he wanted to name a boy after himself and he said "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Then the baby was born and one look was all it took. He asked if we could name him Robert - so we did. Robert Louis S******* S****
With my 2nd, we decided on Summer for a girl.. but couldn't settle on a boys name. I LOVED Noah - but Rob didn't like it. When the baby was born I KNEW he was Noah - but I had to 'sell' Rob. Rob decided that he liked Jason so I said I needed to spend time with the baby to decide. Later he came up and I told him (in my best withering 'i just gave birth' voice) that the baby really looked like a Noah - and he was willing to do whatever I wanted. I decided to be 'fair' and give him the middle name Richard after Rob's dad. So his name is Noah Richard S******** S****

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
DH and I are both Jewish so we name after the deceased in Hebrew. However, our plan was to name our daughter for two MEN (my father and DH's grandfather) so we found femal equivalents to their names in Hebrew. We LOVE biblical names, so we each made a list of names from the Old Testament that we liked. We then compared them to each other's list and cancelled out the English names we did not like until we settled on ones we did. Coincidentally, the Hebrew name for Abigail is a feamle equivalent (or close enough Jewish-ly) to my father's Hebrew name. Then sadly, my mother passed away when I was about 5 months pregnant so we decided to add a second middle name for her in Hebrew to honor my mother.
As sad as I am to be naming for people who are no longer with us, I am equally as excited to celebrate their legacies through my daughter. In fact, DH is scouting locations for her baby naming party right now!

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
Nina Grace
We picked Nina for a few reasons. We wanted a very classic and feminine name that was NOT common. Also because one of my first dolls, that I still happen to have, is named Nina and I just always loved it.
Grace- because its just so pure and classic

My 2nd son Jake I just liked the name so after some convincing dh agreed
My 3rd son Gavin his name came from a kid that played on my older sons soccer team one yr and again it was the only person I have met with that name and now I hear of it more and more. (Also had to convince dh on this name )

Mya Jacklynn
Mya - DH heard the name on TV one night and just fell in love with it...we figured out a spelling we liked and that was that
Jacklynn - Jack was my grandpas name and Lynn is my middle name. I thought of putting the two together when I was falling asleep one night and just fell in love with the idea that my grandpas name would be in one of his great-grandchildrens name even if he didnt get the chance to meet her.

Re: Spinoff to Baby names....How did you chose your Dcs name??
Landon Henry
Landon wasn't either one of our first choices for a boys name. But it was the ONLY name from my list that DH liked, and the only name we agreed on, so we went with it. We are so happy we did because the name suits him perfectly and we love it. I can;t imagine him with another name.
Henry is a family name. It was DH's grandfather's name, and it is the middle name of DH and DH's father. So, DH wanted to keep the tradition going and I agreed.
