Spinoff to baptism... (school related questions)
Is it true you can't enroll your child at the discounted prices at catholic schools unless they are baptized and gone thru the proper steps?
Will a school accept a child who's been baptized but parents aren't?
I need to weigh this out since I actually like catholic school education (had some myself) but heard rumors they charge more for non-catholics (which I admit, I don't understand).

not to offend....but why would you want to send your child to catholic school if they are not being raised catholic and going through with the associated beliefs like Baptism?

not offended at all
I don't believe that my child won't follow their beliefs.. I can't say.
being that my dad and grandma (huge influences in my life) are/were catholic and I went to catholic school myself, I see a lot of potential good in it.
I have always appreciate some of the strict moral attitudes and I want my child to understand and to stick with those.. so in a way.. yes, it will be raised semi-catholic. There are a few things I personally disagree with, but i've made a promise to only answer questions and encourage discussion, exploration and not to judge or deter my child's choices.
did that make any sense... ? sorry

I would say that if they do offer a discount to Catholic children, they would require a baptism. Not sure about anything else- I would definitely ask though!

Re: Spinoff to baptism... (school related questions)
Generally, I think what most parishes do is offer discounted rates for students who come from their own parish. Sometimes this also involves volunteer hours as well, but that is a separate discussion. I believe the main reason for this is not to favor anyone, but more because most Catholic elementary schools receive financial support from the parish in addition to what they collect in tuition. If the people in that parish are financially supporting the school with donations, it makes sense that their children might get a discount (the discount is not usually a tremendous savings).
As a former Catholic school teacher, I know that most schools will accept non-Catholic students, but the parents must be willing to go along with the teachings of the church - for example, if there are masses during the school day, your child attends, since it is part of school attendance and their curriculum.
