Spinoff to bedtime -- early wakings for DC

What do you "do" with your DC when they wake up early (before 7)? I have been bringing her back into bed with me, and she falls back asleep for another 2 hours, but it is becoming a bad habit.

Otherwise, she doesn't really fall back asleep on her own, and I can't imagine "playing" at 5:45.

This is only on the weekends, on weekdays, it works out that she is up that early b/c DH and I both work full-time, but on the weekends, I like my sleep!

My dh and i take turns on the weekends. We each pick a day to sleep in and the other one gets up with ds.

We have never brought ds into bed with us and even if we tried, he wouldn't go for it. DS is so not the cuddly type. Chat Icon

Sorry no suggestions here. Just maybe take turns getting up with her. Chat Icon

When DD gets up early on the weekend, DH lets her climb into bed with him (I'm still at work). During the week, I try to bring her back into her bed. This morning, she got up at 6:30. She went and laid back in her bed but never went back to sleep. I think she's getting up earier and earlier because it is getting lighter earlier. Can't wait til March for the time change!

Madelyn's wake up time is between 5:30-6:30. Sometimes a little earlier, sometimes a little later. We've tried everything, but there is no getting her to sleep later.

Then we found a solution: I have become an early riser.Chat Icon

WEll DS doesnt get up until like 8am . But lately he is getting up at like 6:30 or 7:00am he has mastered climbing out of his crib and comes into our room by busting the door open. He then climbs in the bed with us and goes back to sleep until like 8am. But that is only if he wakes up at 6:30 or 7:00am. Once he is up at 8am he is up. I usually wake up with him on the weekends since DH works long hours. But then DH lets me take a nap during the afternoon and watches DS and DD for me.

DS wakes up around 5:30am to eat EVERY day, but i always put him in his crib right afterwards and he usually goes back down until 8:30 or 9am. he plays for a while before going back to sleep.

is she waking because she is hungry? can you feed her and put her back down? or will she cry?

I will not take her out of the crib any earlier than 6:30 AM. So if she wakes up at 5:45, she stays in there for 45 min. she normally just talks and plays with her feet Chat Icon

I don't want to get in the habit of bringing her into the bed so I just get up with her. She has a bottle right away so that gives me some time to wake up

same here (except I'm the only one that gets up.Chat Icon )

DS screams bloody murder if we try to take him in bed with us.

When he's up, he's up and ready to play!
