I guess it depends on why you are looking to upgrade? This site is great for camera reviews if you want to do some in depth research.

I am going to upgrade to a D300s. Not right now, but by my birthday this summer. A new coworker has a DH with ties to Nikon dealers Chat Icon

I have the D90 (upgraded from the D70). I'm not upgrading until I am fully off Auto. The higher models (D700Chat Icon ) only have manual modes.

I'd upgrade to a live in Summerlyn!!!! That way, I can be in some pics with my son!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I still do not know all the bells and whistles to my D60 and just got a speed flash for it so no upgrades for a while! At least not until I can handle what I have!!!Chat Icon

D300 or D700 but like Barb not until I am fully competent in manual mode.

Re: (spinoff to camera post)if you have Nikon D60 and /or D90 and wanted to upgrade what would you get next?

let me take you back a little- i shot with my D80 until May...

here is mine and gregs conversation when i wanted to get the 700

"i want the 700"

"why? your pics are really good with the 80"

"yeah, but i think i need a better camera"

"why? you are already booking 4 months in advance with the 80"

he stumped me here for a minute lol

"well, no professional shoots with an 80 "

i won. (and when i got the camera, i WAS blown away- full frame and everything- it was just amazing!!!)

lol

the moral of this story is- the lower end models are all great and amazing- it is amazing those photos that are produced out of those models.... the 60, 80, 90, that new one the 5000 or something... so unless you know the ins and outs of your camera, and lighting and everything, i would stick with those models... anything above a 200 does not have an auto mode (which means, hello, i am not in any pics anymore!!!!!! greg cant even do the camera, it is so depressing....which means unless you want to take two cameras everywhere in order to get in a pic with your children, then dont do it hahahaha)

and i will leave you with something i have learned as well:

cameras dont shoot people

people shoot people

Thanks so much . and that's what one photographer told me few days ago. he said that sometimes he'll use his D60 if he is going to family events (bday ,family dinner....) and his pics come out just as good as the ones taken with more "expensive/professional" camera .
