spinoff to carseats & airplanes...

Whats the best way to transport the carseat through the airport? Between suitcases & the stroller & Ella, I dread lugging the carseat. I've seen the "stroller-like" attachment that you can put the seat in, but I wasn't sure its actually worth buying.

I've also see the "sit & stroll" that converts from a car seat to a stroller, but again, I don't reallt want to buy anything for one flight.

(we're flying to Europe in November, and its an overnight flight, so Ella will have her own seat and hopefully will sleep in her car seat)

I'm debating the same thing now. The one I was thinking about buying was pricey (i think around $90) so I'm not sure what we'll do. We fly fairly often so it may be worth it for us.

we have a case/cover that is a backpack. I love it because we have so much luggage we need to keep our hands free.

I bought a gate check bag (doesn't mean you have to check it at the gate, its just the name of it) had a handle I strapped to the stoller. It was $6.99.

the hands-free car seat bag is on sale for $15 at babycenter.com.

Thats currently looking like the best option...does the bag pack down small enough to fit under the seat or overhead?

Usually I put the car seat in the stroller (prop it in there). Push the stroller- have lauren hold onto the stroller and I drag a suitcase with the other hand. DH will be the one dragging the other suitcases as well... We usually check in outside so our trip is short with the mess.

eta: i have the carrier for the carseat and used it often, but just switched car seats and it doesn't fit in there anymore. i think they are so worth it.

I've used something similar when we took the car seat. I got it at BRU, it was a heavy duty canvas bag made by Eddie Bauer. Well worth the $20.

And yes, it folds up nice and will fit under your seat or in the overhead.

Re: spinoff to carseats & airplanes...

I carried two huge carseats on our last trip. If you open the shoulder straps, there's plenty of room to put your own arm through, and it sits pretty nicely on one shoulder, and if the seat is wide enough, it should sit nicely across your back.

The 2nd seat, I put upside down on our overhead luggage bag. Just strap it to the handles, and you barely know it's there. These methods don't involve any additional cost, weight, or things to deal with. Practice at home, though. Trust me, it's not fun practicing taking it on and off the luggage when there is a line of people waiting for you to go through the security check point! Chat Icon Chat Icon
