I would always vote fake, because I hate cleaning up the needles. But since DS started solids and started crawling and walking, I clean the floors twice a day anyway 
So probably real, once we get over the fear that DS will climb it.

We buy real christmas trees now for the past 2 years. But i grew up with fake and loved them.
We just didnt have storage and DH grew up and loved real trees. SO i tried it out and liked it.

always had a real one so will continue to get a real one even with DS around. It's one part of my family i can have here to remind me of my family back in europe

Growing up we had a fake one because we had a wood burning stove and Dad was afraid of the fire hazard.
As a married couple, we have had real trees.
This year in Mom and Dad's house, Dad told us to go buy a real one and not to worry about the stove. He is retired now and home enough to make sure it stays watered all the time.
