Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
I know someone who did... I don't think I could. I could however stand to get a right hand ring...perhaps a 3-stone past, present, future kind of thing.
what are your thoughts?

I would never want to change my wedding band or engagement ring...it wouldnt be sentimental anymore.

I always tell DH if we ever come into money, I would never want my ering/wedding band changed. I would want a fabulous anniversary ring instead

I personally would not. DH custom made both my engagement & wedding rings. They have such a sentiment to me & I would not upgrade them even if we came into money.

I don't know if I would change my ering - but I don't really looove my wedding band. Dh and I have talked about getting a different one and I probably will one day.
I wasnt actually married in my wedding band - I was married with my great grandfathers band so I am not really super attached to it.

I might up grade the stone, and keep the band.
I have no sentimental attachment to my wedding band, since it is not the one I got married with.The stones fell out of my original one, on my wedding day.
Funny thing is, my DH band is not original either. He decided to go fishing one day and left his band on. Well, it's lost somewhere in the LI sound.

this thread reminded me of something. my parents have been married for 42 years and my Mom must have 42 wedding bands 
ok, maybe not 42, but she has a lot! every couple years she asks my Dad to get her a new one. they're not super expensive, but I find it strange that she has so many

i don't think i would "upgrade" - i have some scratches on my e-ring, i might eventually replace the band, but i'd get the same kind, i don't really consider that an upgrade

I have my e-ring that DH bought me, and I was given my grandmother's e-ring when she died and I was given HIS grandmother's e-ring. Dh has mentioned upgrading my center stone for an anniversary, so if he did I would use my old stone and the stones from each of our grandmother's rings to make a 3 stone ring or pendent.

Nope. If anything, I would get an anniversary band or soemthing, but never upgrade/replace.
We both put a lot of thought and effort into designing my e-ring and the wedding bands, We got what I wanted now so I wouldn't have to upgade.
My SIL on the other hand has done the following. (they were engaged Aug 2003 & married May 2004)
the ering he bought her, she didnt like, she got a new ering. about 2 yrs after, she had the center stone upgraded (in the new ring). She got a new wedding band (eternity band).
Hey, I say more power to them. I know they didnt have the $ (SIL told me that BIL borrowed $ from family to get all of the above).

Well, i am now on my 2nd ering because we had problems with the first one he bought from lundstroms. It was constantly dinging and denting and it actually broke once. They sized it from a 7 to a 4 when he first got it so my guess is this is why all the problems. The last time we brought it in they switched a diamond on us. It took 2 years of arguing screaming and yelling to get our money back. I was in the midst of writtig a letter to Help me Howard. so we finally got our money back and took our business else where. So my e-ring is not the sme but i still love it. I had a really hard time at first cuz it was not MY ering. But i would never change it again for the world or my wedding band.

I don't think I ever could. DH had both my e-ring and wedding band custom made for me, and he did a GREAT job. I would never want them changed. I did start hinting to a right hand ring though

I don't know.... I'm not opposed to it, but its not something I ever think I'd do. I think if I did for some reason, I'd want to original diamond from the ering made into a pendant or something... that way I can still wear

Yep, I'm not opposed to bigger. I don't know if I would keep my current stone and have it set as a solitaire pendant or use it towards the upgrade.

I had my setting changed but not the stone. I designed the original setting at a shop in the diamond district and to be honest...it wasn't made too well. It seemed a little sloppy. About a year later I went to my local jeweler and desined a new setting and had my original stone set in it. I am so happy I did. I felt bad for a long time but I told DH not to b/c it was my own fault since I designed it. Its not like he picked it out on his own and I just flat out said I didn't like it. I can't help but feel guilty sometimes though.
