Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
My e-ring was the first one I saw and tried on. It was fate and I don't like to mess with fate.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
my setting is white gold- DH wants to get reset in platium
it was suppose to be done that way- but due to the circumstances at the time- he couldn't - he had about 4 hours to get the ring and make it to my house- so we could make it to the hospital - so my Mom would know we were engaged before she left us
but I would reset it - not sure I need a bigger stone- but it's always nice to look
my next project is upgrading my diamond studs!

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
mine were lost so I had no choice
but I actually "downgraded"
I had a 2 carat light blue ceylon sapphire in a platinum setting with diamonds on the side (two baguettes on each side) I forget what the tw of the diamonds was. the band itset was intricately designed. I LOVED my ering. LOVED it.
we recently just replaced it with a very pretty blue topaz. antigue style with little diamonds chippies inlaid around the stone.
still very pretty.
just not my ering. we could have replaced it with the Hope diamond and it still wouldn't be the same.
the ring he proposed with is worth MY weight in diamonds. I wouldn't have replaced it for anything.
actually, I still haven't b/c It can't be replaced.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
I recently got a new setting to my new e-ring- but not b/c it was an upgrade... I was shopping and I looked down and I didn't have a center stone anymore- I went home hysterical- but DH insisted that I retrace my steps. He wound up finding the diamond on the sidewalk outside of the veggie store I was at- under the wheel of a shopping cart!
When we tried to have the diamond re-set, no one would touch it- saying it would be unsecure and that I needed to get something new. I took it to a few places- and i kept getting the same answer- we we traded it in and I got a new setting- which I LOVE (better than first one- it has much more "bling")..
but- if this didn't happen, I would have kept my e-ring the way it was.

If you have it reset in platinum, does that mean a new setting or do they "dip" the ring to make it platinum?

I would never modify my wedding band or e-ring. Has way to much sentimental value to change it.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
never in a million years--to each their own--but i will never understand why people do it. DH gave me what he could afford and worked very hard to save up for it.....i wouldn't want to go "bigger" or change anything about it--cause i will show my ring to our kids and say "THIS is the ring he bought me and asked me to marry him with." for me, saying "well this isn't exactly the ring he bought me---this is the ring i got after i wanted to change it and improve on it." just doesn't hold the same meaning to me. but everyone is different i suppose

My e-ring NEVER! I love that it is so different (the center stone is a ruby). My wedding band I've been thinking about upgrading to an eternity band with ruby and diamonds like one of these:

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
I wouldn't. 3 of my friends have the same setting as I do. When DH proposed and he found that out, he gave me the option to change it. But I didn't want to. This is what he picked out and I love it. I think my rings are timeless and will never change them.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
Absolutely not...I'm way too sentimental about such things.
I would gladly take *another* ring *in addition to* my e-ring and wedding band though I've actually wanted to get another band to flank the other side of my e-ring...maybe for an upcoming anniversary.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
I changed the setting to my e-ring from the one I originally picked out because the original one just wasn't made right.
DH is still upset about it to this day (he didn't tell me he was upset until AFTER we got my new ring).
I would also upgrade my e-ring at some point to something obnoxiously bigger if we had the extra $$$$$ to do so. I am not really sentimental about my e-ring at all.
My wedding band was made with the stones from my Mom's upgraded wedding band so that I would never change.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
I love my wedding band, I picked it out, so no, I would never change it or upgrade it.
My e-ring is a family heirloom. I just don't feel I could change it, although I would love to get a different setting (it's just a round solitaire, so nothing too out of the ordinary). Right now they don't fit, so I'm still debtaing the whole resizing issue.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
My husband wants to upgrade my center stone on my e-ring. I would re-use my stone for a necklace. As long as I could keep my original stone, I don't mind upgrading the center.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
I've been thinking a lot about changing my e-ring. I'd always wanted a sapphire e-ring, but I let people talk me out of it. My e-ring is pretty, but it's just not me.
DH doesn't really care what I do, he's just tired of hearing me go back and forth about it.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
i would like to have a exact replica made of my ring in platinum- white gold turns to much i keep having to get it redipped. and I would probably get a diamond that was completely flawless- my size is great but its vs2. i picked it out so Dh wouldnt be offended, of course I have much more things to spen my moeny on these days so this would have to be if i won the lottery or something.

no, they have to take my ring and make a mold
which is why i haven't done it yet- but I would be ok with the dipping- but my Jewler doesn't do that- he only dipps the gold - which i got redone every year-

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
Yes. I wear 3 rings every day. My e ring, my wedding band which is an eternity band, and then for the Jewish part of the ceremony I used a plain white gold band that DH gave me when we first started dating 8 years ago.
At the time I was like, why is he giving me a wedding band , especially because marriage was so not on my mind at all! But now I wear it every day, we used it in our ceremony, and it holds so much value to me. The other two rings I adore, but its my little white gold band that is the true symbol of our relationship to me.
I eventually want to go bigger on the eternity band.

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
i actually had to change mine last summer... i lost both my e-ring and wedding band on a trip to my parents beach house in NC. i thought i was being responsible and left them in a bookbag at the house while we went on a sailboat, but couldn't find them when i came back soo... i got basically the same exact rings, but with a slight bigger center diamond. DHs ring isn't his original either- he lost his in the water on teh honeymoon

I have my e-ring that DH bought me, and I was given my grandmother's e-ring when she died and I was given HIS grandmother's e-ring. Dh has mentioned upgrading my center stone for an anniversary, so if he did I would use my old stone and the stones from each of our grandmother's rings to make a 3 stone ring or pendent.
That would be a really nice thing to do!!

Re: Spinoff to E-Ring Post: Would you ever "upgrade" your e-ring/wedding band?
I would never upgrade. DH said that he would get me a new center stone and I told him that he better not. I love my ring- it is what he proposed to me with. I am a sentimental sap so this is the ring I'll have forever.
