I've learned that the following things can cause days and pages of drama and debate on a chat board.....

-Icicle lights
-breast feeding
-tattoos & to cover or not cover up for a wedding
-the amount of a wedding gift and whether its expected to 'cover your plate'
-illegal apartments
-prenups
-animals in public
-feeding feral cats
-anyone employed with the macaroni grill
-gang members who are overprotective of their daughters and try to put a chastity belt on them to preserver their virginity [bonus points if you know about THAT ONE]

Oh, and from the parenting board you can't forget immunizations and now flu shots! Those are bound to get people started! Chat Icon

very little point to that, IMO Chat Icon (see how nice that works? Chat Icon )

the political threads are so overpowering in quantity and attention, that any other topic gets pushed to Page 2 very quickly

I will say another thing I have learned. If you want to participate in a political thread, particularly if you are voting McCain - be prepared to spend 6-12 hours, and 20+ pages defending your position. Also be sure that you have at least 3 factual references to support your claim. You need 3 because two will likely be dismissed as being biased Chat Icon

I've learned that some of the people who are super paranoid about sharing information on LIF apparently have no issue with me knowing their full names, date of birth, address and phone numbers on facebook.

I think its easy to complain instead of doing somethign about it. Again if you want to discuss something else then post about it, if enough people want to join your thread they will post on it , if they don't, well you are right it will go to the bottom, its' just the way it works. I didn't make up the rules I just follow them.

what would you like me to do? put in the title - post on my thread or else? Chat Icon

the bottom line is, politics is the hot topic right now - no question

i do not have the time to pore through 20+ pages per thread and don't feel like starting threads when no one is going to post on them anyway.

And no one is complaining about the political threads. It's the hot topic - they SHOULD be debated. What I can and WILL complain about is when we see the same topic get beat to death in multiple threads over and over and over again.

I lobbied for a political board for the election. It was ignored. So, I just choose to ignore the threads, but will speak up when I see things getting redundant.

Agreed Politics is the hot topic for now, in about 2 weeks we will all move on.
