Spinoff to fire alarm - do you have a ladder?
Do those of you with a 2 story home have one of those emergency ladders to throw out the window in case of a fire?

I think I might get the one from One Step Ahead. Does anyone have it or know if it's good?
Lisa - it comes in 3-story too

I looked it up too!
I'm going to have to get it... We are in a converted attic, and the only way down is 2 flights of stairs right through the middle of the house.

We have it, but we've never needed to use it. It seems pretty sturdy.

Re: Spinoff to fire alarm - do you have a ladder?
I have two ladders, one in each of my children's rooms. I figure if we really needed to get out we would be getting them and going out their windows...
As a side note...
My son wanted to use it and I said no it is only for grownups and I never expect to use it. He asked if he could have it when he grew up, I said sure, that he could bring it to his house. All at once he looked all sad and confused...He said "but mommy, this is my house. Can't I live here forever?" I said "of course" Like that's going to happen. Jeez, 3 yr old boys are so cute.

Re: Spinoff to fire alarm - do you have a ladder?
yes, I bought one at HD and keep it under DC's bed in case of emergency. It seems really easy to use.

Re: Spinoff to fire alarm - do you have a ladder?
I am definitely going to get several after the renovation and all of us will be sleeping upstairs. I was looking into the ones that are permanently mounted in the wall, but I think I'll go for the temporary ones instead. 1/10th the price, and I can keep them out of DC's reach until they are old enough to use them on their own.
