spinoff to gastric bypass... question for those who have had it done
what, if i may be so bold, brought you to the decision to do it?
it's been rattling in the back of my mind for a while now.

Re: spinoff to gastric bypass... question for those who have had it done
for me it was feeling like I was 75 (instead of the 39 that I was), the pain that I had in my body because all the extra weight I was carring was putting so much pressure on my legs and knees, and I wanted to feel "normal" (as far as my interpertaion of normal is.

Re: spinoff to gastric bypass... question for those who have had it done
I haven't had it done, but I've been toying with the idea of having gastric bypass or the lapband procedure. I'm not sure I could do them since I'm not sure if I meet any criteria that they have in place. I haven't looked into it so I'm not sure of the specifics. But my reason for toying with the idea is that I am having major back problems. I have spondylolisthesis, which means one of my vertebrae is slipped forward. It is also fractured and my discs are completely deteriorated. I also have rods down most of my spine from a spinal fusion to correct scoliosis 7 years ago. The area of my spine having trouble now is below the fusion. It is painful, and mainly caused by the amount of stress on my back from the extra weight I carry. If I were to add the weight of a baby to it, I'd be restricted to a bed for most of my pregnancy.
I am only 24 years old, so these issues are making me feel so much older. Because of my back pain, I can't walk long distances, stand up for long periods of time, etc. And now I'm beginning to feel liek it's time for DH and I to have a baby, so that is a big concern for me as well. I've done WW and did lose some weight, but it's not enough, and it's a very slow process. And working out is very painful. So I thought maybe having the surgery would help alleviate one of the biggest problems in my life right now - my back pain.
