Re: Spinoff to handwashing: Do you sit on the seat?
I sit because I read somewhere that hovering actually does something with the bacteria down there and could lead to infections

The faucet is actually dirtier then the toilet
The reason why there is pee on the seats is because people hover
Totally agree-your kitchen sink is dirtier than a public toilet(an obviously clean one of course-not a nasty one. ) Also there is no disease you can get from urine. Its sterile.

Found this:
To Squat or Not?
Who hasn't hovered over a seat to pee? Problem is since the position isn't really relaxing, your bladder may not empty completely. The residual urine can breed bacteria, leading to a urinary-tract infection. The habit can also cause incontinence later in life. Bottom line: squatting once or twice a week won't lead to problems, but more can.

I don't know why, but this made me think of the movie Dodgeball.
"Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No, but I do it anyway because it's sterile and I like the taste."

Posted by SweetTooth You can't catch anything from a toilet seat.
Can you catch crabs from a toilet seat?
How did I get pubic lice?
Pubic lice are usually spread through sexual contact. Rarely, infestation can be spread through contact with an infested person's bed linens, towels, or clothes. A common misbelief is that infestation can be spread by sitting on a toilet seat. This isn't likely, since lice cannot live long away from a warm human body. Also, lice do not have feet designed to walk or hold onto smooth surfaces such as toilet seats.
Infection in a young child or teenager may indicate sexual activity or sexual abuse.

Re: Spinoff to handwashing: Do you sit on the seat?
Nope NEVER EVER...I always squat and make sure that my pants are not touching the floor at the bottom or that the back of my pants are not touching the front of the bowl...its a funny sight
Most of the time if I can help it I avoid using public bathrooms - I would rather be doing the pee pee dance all the way home than use a public restroom...

*ding**ding*ding*
you win the prize....
all you hovers are the ones that make the bathroom dirty!!
true but no matter what people are going to hover...so, i do too...plus the thought of all those other as*es on the seat..gross me out!
well when ya hover and pee on the seat, can you be courteous and wipe it off for the rest of us that want to sit??? If everyone did that.....no more mess!!
Reminds me of a sign that use to be at an work place
"If you sprinkle while you twinkle - be a sweetie and clean the seatie" always got a chuckle out of me

Eh...doesn't really bother me.
Unless it's REALLY gross, I'll just sit.
Me too. I wipe it off, then sit.

I squat for pee, but if I have to really go poops- I place like 3 layers of TP on the seat! or use the toilet seat cover.

Re: Spinoff to handwashing: Do you sit on the seat?
I usually sit-- using lots of TP of course, unless it's really gross. I sometimes have a problem going unless I am sitting-- unless I REALLY have to pee.
