Spinoff to Joining the club - LIF stalkers
Do you ever wonder if someone who works with you or that you know, reads about all your posts?
About all the questions/topic regarding your kids, DH, what shoes to buy, what you watch on TV, etc...
That they may know about your personal life and repeat it to someone else?

Anything I dont want people to know, I don't write here. If I felt someone was stalking me, Id make up one damn good story, let themselves get caught and have them look like an a$$.

no - this is part of the reason i am incognito (for now).
however, i really don't think anyone i know even knows about this site, other than DH and one of my best friends, and if they did i never really post anything i would be to embarrassed to say in person.
if i had a stalker i guess i'd be flattered  but then i'd wonder why they had no life and then i'd pity them

I'm not worried anymore. I think I've secured every single account I have with passwords so they can't be changed. I try to stay conscious when I write that this is a public forum.
As far as my posts go, what are they going to blab about? Maddie & Joe stuff? I don't write anything about someone that I wouldn't tell them to their face. I'm pretty open about things I've put on this site. Anything I'm not open about isn't posted.
eta. Also a lurker is the one who introduced me to this site. She's my co-worker/friend. I don't think she posted more than a handful of times & as far as FM, I've asked her to FM a few people on pregnancy that had the same issues as she did.
As far as family, my SIL is on this site. I realize that I gave up a place to vent by inviting her in. However, the support she's received on this site absolutely surpasses my need to complain about DH or IL issues.

I don't post anything that interesting about my personal life that would matter. I don't post anything personal that would offend anyone I know, and in general, I am not angry at people nor do I vent about things, so I don't worry too much about it.
If anyone wants to make the effort to come and find me...well done to them!

I don't post anything either that could get me into trouble...........I've worried on one other message board........but still, nothing too terrible is posted. I knew someone once who was a mod on another board and she banned a guy for being an *** and then someone emailed her boss to say she was on the site all the time talking about how she hated her job (she made an error in judgement and posted the name of the company she worked for). She ended up getting a talking to and thinks it was that guy who told her boss. People are crazy, but the internet really is not anonymous.

I never write anything personal that I wouldn't want anyone to know. On LIW, it always amazed me how people would post about personal family issues, cheating, and hating in laws. That is not cool! It's a public forum! I only write about things I feel comfortable. So what if someone knows I'm going to be a yoga teacher? That doesn't bother me...but personal life...that's for me and no one else. And if I DID write about personal stuff (NOT like I would) DH would seriously kill me! ha ha! I actually no longer post pictures...too many weirdos out there.

Honestly no....I don't post things on here that I would not say to someone's face. There are aspects of my life that I don't post about bc they are private. I know this is a public forum & anyone can see what I write. If someone has the spare time to watch every post I make, that is their problem & I could care less. I always use the motto "some things are better left unsaid" & that is the rule of thumb I follow here...

I am not remotely worried. in fact... I know for a fact that at least 1 of my co-workers is a member.
I have posted 'personal' stuff - but that's just the kind of person I am. If I am saying it here - chances are that my co-workers/friends already know about it.
I have asked advice about real life relationships and I have done a bit of venting here and there - but the honest fact is that I don't think it would bother me if anyone that I have ranted about saw what I wrote. 9/10 I probably have said the same thing to their face already.
I don't live a life of mystery or intrigue. I don't have a lot to covet and it doesn't bother me if people recognize who I am. I am sickeningly boring, but I am living the best life I can and sharing my exploits with a group that I happen to enjoy. So if anyone in my family or my group of friends (or non-friends) happens to stumble in... so be it. I hope they enjoy the place as much as I do!

Does not bother me. While I don't post on personal issues or too many pictures, I think if anyone came on these boards and read a few of my posts it would be obvious who I was.
I have come across a number of people I know (in some way) who post on here that we have figured out with each other. There are others posters on here that I am pretty sure I know in some way or other that I have never said anything to. It's really not that hard to figure it out.
Plus for the others who say that no one knows you are on here....all you have to do is put Long Island and a word into a search engine and this site comes on so I am pretty sure there are a number of people who look at this website.
I do think this is a great place to post about questions about TTC, pregnancy and parenting. I have learned so much from most people.
If people want to "stalk" my posts to find out about my kids colds, things to do on LI...then by all means go right ahead. I didn't know I was so interesting.

I just think its sad when people must resort to stalking..shows how much of a life they have....Being a victim of this, I do wish I hadn't written stuff, but I only did it to ask for advice, not to bash...An above poster said anyone can read what we write, but anyone can also keep their mouth shut.
I would NEVER, EVER "tell" on somoene here, what people have written...
