Of ALLLLLL the different careers in this country, WHY would these people choose teaching? Clearly, they aren't cut out for it.

These poor children. Chat Icon

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's fair to judge before you hear the teacher's side of the story. They are relating the incident very one-sidedly. Yes, she definitely should not have said those things in front of the class, but you don't know what she had to deal with. Teachers lose their cool just like any other people.

I agree with you BUT...... as both someone who ahs been on the side of the abuse and teh side of the teacher, I ahve to say there's no excuse. YES you lose your call. I know I did once or twice but you catch yourself and you need to be a grownup. If you snap like that, FIRST thing yuo do is amke a public apology to that child and let the parents know and apologize out of your butt.

Some of the students i worked with gave me some good gray hairs but when i felt like i was going to blow I took a break. I would ask my cooperating teacher to keep an eye on my class a moment even if ti was "my period", or just take time out for a sec at the small reading table grading papers and put the kids to a review.

Im sensitive to verbal abuse because in 8th grade I was told by my math teacher that I was stuopid and would never get the stuff right so she refused to teach me.

I was in a gifted class. But ebcasue they had only 2 tracks and the other was full, i was put into a class of smart but "bad" students; behaior problems and judged accrodingly by the teachers till my mother stepped in.

Even now at age 27 I have math anxiety.

I don't condemn her indefinetly but she needs to get it together, and a break def seems like a good diea to me.

you're right. teachers are human.

BUT

an ADULT who takes all the years it takes to become a teacher, student-teaching, passing state tests to become certified, and go through the interview process, and accepts the not-so-high income (depending on district) comes into this with OPEN EYES that working with children isn't always fun and/or easy. THIS IS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHY A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T GO INTO TEACHING.

if you are the ADULT who has been trained to teach children, THERE IS NO EXCUSE to speak to a child that way!!

Absolutely!!! THere's no reason to call any student these things, but I certainly think that maybe the teachers could use more support....where are the stories about the amazing things teachers do everyday? I'm always reading about the bad things. I guess they're more interesting.Chat Icon

I am not a parent and I am outraged. How anyone could talk like this to a child is beyong me. No matter how disruptive a child is (not saying that he was) a teacher is NOT to act that way. they are the ADULT!.
