Spinoff to making comments to parents-my story

here's the situation:

I was in Michael's and this elderly woman got behind me in line. It was hard to tell where one line was seperated from another but i clearly saw her step behind me.

Well I go to pay and am being checked out and this guy (about 35) moved in front of her. She said something to the effect of "hey I'm in line next" and he told her "my son was holding my spot"

I looked down and there's this 4 yr old boy behind me now
(so small I didnt even see him!)
This guy left his son in line by himself for a good 5 minutes and went to get something else!!!
I commented that it was unfair to the lady and that I would never leave my child alone like that. He got offended at me and said "he wasn't alone- I was in the next aisle!"

Should I not have said anything? I was just appalled at his behavior and annoyed for the lady behind me

I agree with you but I wouldn't have said anything. I wouldn't have seen the point honestly, the guy would still think it was OK, no matter what anyone said. And people are so weird, you never know if he's going to follow you to your car cursing you out or something.

On a side note, what men shop at Michaels? I don't think I've ever seen a man in Michaels!!

About the man thing- yeah i know. DH only goes in with me and he doesn't really like to.

I also know what you're saying- it didnt make a difference to him. He didnt suddenly say "oh wow youre right-thanks i'll never do that again"

i don't know what made me say anything anyway. It just came out
