Spinoff to my earlier post - What do I ask when interviewing a ped?
First, thank you for the recommendations!! I'll give them a call over the weekend.
Once I get in the ped's office to meet with them, what do I ask?

are they flexible with vaccine schedules?
what hospital are you affiliated with?
how do i reach you off hours in case of an emergency?
how do you treat infants with fevers? (personally i think this question is important. my ped does not give antibiotics unless it's the last resort, while i know others give it easily)
who replaces you on vacation or if you're sick?

Here's a past thread that is under the 'Great Reference Posts for Moms to Be' on the Pregnancy board. This is what I used as a reference when interviewing my pediatrician:

Re: Spinoff to my earlier post - What do I ask when interviewing a ped?
I think you will get the most info by asking people who use the pediatrician... rather than asking the ped in an interview.
I love mine because she: Spends an hour with me if her office is quiet. Is relaxed when I tell her about perceived problems... so I'm not embarrassed. Has similar beliefs to me, but does not judge. Gives her opinion when I ask... like when I ask what she believes about vaccination schedules. I'm no pediatrician, so I need an opinion I trust. Asks nurse to put me in a room ASAP when she sees me. I feel like a VIP when I go to see her... even though her office is small, old and not snazzy. Tells me what she is looking for during the physical exams.
I did get lucky though. I asked 3 people with small children and picked the one that would come to the hospital. She became friend, lactation consultant, and psychiatrist as well as a pediatrician.
Keep in mind, you can always switch.
