Re: Spinoff to my Vaginal Birth... Ladies who had C section...
Well, the first time my water broke and then I had 10 hours of labor only to have a c-section. Worst experience ever. Second time it was a scheduled section. Wonderful.
Basically, you walk to the OR and you get up on the table. You lean over and get the spinal (which didn't hurt at all). You feel a pinch and then warmth. They lay you down and you slowly start to relax and your lower body goes numb. The doctors are setting everything up, the anesthesiologist is talking to you making you comfortable. The sheet goes up, your dh comes into the room and within 30 minutes your baby is born. Afterwards, you feel a lot of tugging while they're cleaning you up and putting you "back together" . This part seems like forever and this is when I got a little sick. But the anesthesiologist made me comfy again so I didn't have any problems. Then they wheel you to recovery where you can hold your baby and wait for your room. Once you're in your room...you'll be sleeping because you're so exhausted.
Make sure you get up and walk asap (or when the nurses tell you to). It's so much better. It's going to hurt a lot but keep up with the pain meds and you should be fine.
I've had two and I"m the biggest wimp when it comes to pain. If I can do it...anyone can...
Good luck!

thats what i think i was most fearful of. I dont know why the C section doesnt scare me at all, but a vaginal does?
I really am abnormal huh?

Re: Spinoff to my Vaginal Birth... Ladies who had C section...
Check out my birth story - I had a scheduled c-section and it was a very smooth process. I healed very well and was up and about that night (although slowly ).
I really felt SO much better within a week.
I'm actually going to try for a VBAC this time but knowing how well my c-section went, I'm okay if I have to have another one.

Re: Spinoff to my Vaginal Birth... Ladies who had C section...
I also had a very wonderful, scheduled, c/s experience with my DD. Pretty much everything that Stefanie wrote, except I kind of had a massive panic attack right before they started and got sick all over myself and the nurses, but then they gave me something to calm down and it was WONDERFUL!
I am also trying for a VBAC this pregnancy BUT if I have a c/s, I am fine with that as well. My recovery was amazing, just walk as much as you can once they let you.

Re: Spinoff to my Vaginal Birth... Ladies who had C section...
Can I ask you ladies another question in regards to this? (Please bear with the nervous newbie!) How big is your scar once it's all healed up? Where is it? Can you still wear a bikini without it showing?
I know it sound superficial to even worry about- but I'm just very curious...

I would say it's about 4-5 inches and mine is below the bikini line. I've worn a two piece and no one knows that I've had a c-section...it doesn't show at all.
I'm not going to lie...it looks like hell when you first look at it. But it heals up nicely and fades.
One word of advice that really helped me...wear a girdle. It's better to hold it all in then let it hang out.

Re: Spinoff to my Vaginal Birth... Ladies who had C section...
I had c section and so happy I did. My recovery was tough because I was in labor for a while while the on call do tried to convince me to deliver naturally. By time I had the section I was already past 8 CMs. Everything was good until I was walking the next AM and my epi line fell out. I kept telling the nurse something was wrong bc I 'm in a lot of pain, but of course it took forever for them to figure out the line came out. If it weren't for those 2 things, My recovery would have been much easier. I was in the OR and 5 minutes later there was my screaming baby I was in recovery thinking, hmmm, I probablly wouldn't have even started pushing yet! My scar is about 4 inches, looks big on me bc i'm very thin, but you can not see it when i wear a bikini. my scar also Keloided , but most don't .
my doc asked if I want c secion or VBAC and I'm going with the c sec again.
hmm, wonder what kind of girdle to use? I didn't wear one the first time
