Spinoff to natural delivery recovery..

Did anyone who had a vaginal birth NOT tear or get an episiotomy (sp)?? Just curious.

I tore a little and needed a couple of stitches.

I didn't need any stitches. No tears and no epi. Chat Icon DS was 8lb 3oz. I apparently have good birthing hips Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to natural delivery recovery..

Tore both times with DS and DD.

Tore worse with DS (8 pounds 7 ounces) than I did with DD (8 pounds 13 ounces)

Needed stitches for both, more with DS. I assume I was already stretched out for DD and that's why I didn't tear as bad! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to natural delivery recovery..

I tore pretty badly but my DD was sunny side up and pretty big - 8 lbs, 10 oz - and I'm rather petite. Her head was very large also - significantly above average in terms of percentiles - so it makes sense to me that I would tear so bad.

Re: Spinoff to natural delivery recovery..

Nope.. nothing. no tearing, no epi with my last two. The first one only a slight tear but it only required 1/2 stitch.

Re: Spinoff to natural delivery recovery..

I had just barely a second degree tear. Sasha wasn;t big AND had a small head.

Re: Spinoff to natural delivery recovery..

I said that I did NOT want an episiotomy but I changed my mind. DD was starting to get distressed with my pushing and her HR was all over the place. They said if I didn't have an episiotomy I might tear very badly (I also had to have a vaccum delivery) - so I said ok. The thought of a second or 3rd degree tear made me give in to the scissors.
