Spinoff to newborns and public
So I'm due at the end of December, and I was wondering what are all you winter moms are planning on doing to not feel couped up in the house with the baby and get out with the baby!?!?!?!?

I'm due in January and to be honest it's the middle of Winter, I think I'm going to hibernate at home with the baby until at least March...lol There's really not much to do!

I am SOOOOO not sitting in the house all winter. I will get depressed and bored very easily. I plan on going to my parent's house to hang (they are 10 mins away), the mall, anywhere as long as the roads arent icy and bad.

as long as it is about 40 degrees out you can bundle the baby up and go for a walk.
I plan on walking a lot during the day when teh temp is good and getting fresh air.....It helps with the baby blues....
I remember this past winter taking note of the temperature to see if this was feesible and for the most part teh days got into the 40's .......

Same here. I was born in January, and my mom told me she was miserable being cooped up in the house for months. She didn't drive at the time, so she had not choice.

OMG laruen I wasnt even thinking.. we will totally be on maternity leave at the same time!!!! Shakes at Bobby's Burger Place with the babies it is!!!

I think the mall is a good suggestion.. Inside, and you can still walk around.
I am due the end of January-- and will play it by ear. I plan to work out a lot at home!

See I told my mom the mall idea and she made a good point, do I really want the baby around soooo many ppl with sooo many germs especially winter colds and flus...but then again this is coming from the woman who didn't allow anyone to touch me for the first few months of my life

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting the baby bundled up and heading out so as not to go stir crazy. I know some people prefer to stay in, but that's just not me....I'll go NUTS!
I'll definitely be getting out of the house...I just have to figure out where I am going to go...lol

A friend of the family's infant got viral meningitis from being in a mall, I personally wouldn't chance it.
I had my 1st in early March and now #2 will be coming in late Jan/early Feb... I really don't mind being a homebody for a little while!!! It's so tiring with the sleep deprivation, etc... it's nice to veg at home. I plan to keep the baby away from germs for the first 8 wks... my parents will visit a few times a week to take my older DS out, let me run a quick errand, etc.

I'm not going to be able to stay in all the time. I will have to think of activities. The mall makes me nervous with all the germs.

I think I am going to be so overwhelmed adjusting to being a first-time mother in general that going out in public for at least the first few weeks is going to be the furthest thing from my mind. I am sure I will be exhausted too. DH probably will only take a week off from work so I am sure the responsibility caring for our son will be on me pretty early on. I expect my parents will probably come down and stay a week or so though too.
My good friend had her son in November and used to bundle him up and do a quick walk around the neighborhood each day.

I know, I hate being home too, I know I'll be itching to do SOMETHING, but what???? Me and the mall not a good idea, I'lll have no money becuase I wont be working and I'll want ot buy stuff!!! I'll end up getting myself in trouble. If the temp is decent I might go for a stroll around the block, but I really can't think of anythign else!

i am due in september but there is a good chance that the weather will get bad, early... i do plan on going out, but maybe walking around the mall or stores like target. plus i'll go to my mom's house a lot, i am sure
