Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
Okay so are you someone who is punctual or are you someone who is always, habitually 5, 10 ,15 minutes late?
And why?

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
I always try really, really hard to be on time but when you have a kid something ALWAYS comes up and I'm sometimes 5-10 minutes late. Not often though. And I always try and prepare myself, to have everything ready to go wayyyy ahead of time, and there's always that one thing that I forgot to do/bring!
Then of course when we are going out I change my outfit 80 times and that makes us late

I try so hard to be a few minutes early or right on time.
Being late (to anything) gives me such anxiety.

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
I can't remember the last time I was late to anything. I pride myself on it, and being reliable. However, I know plenty of people who are constantly late with one excuse or another, or who don't care to explain at all.
It's a peeve of mine.

I'm always running late... I try my best but something ALWAYS comes up.
this is for personal things... for anything school/work related I'm either early or on time.

me too!
however, now with the baby, i'd rather be 5-10 minutes late than drive quickly or rush. I'm lucky that i have a boss that would do the same, so he understands. (eta: his sitter is right by my office, so i drive 35 mins each way with him in the car)

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
I am always, always early. I have terrible anxiety about being late, so even if I am right on time, I was probably having a heart attack about being late a few minutes prior to my arrival.
ETA: I was once so early to a Mommy GTG that i took DD for a 1/2 hour walk around my friend's neighborhood to kill time. I always find something to do with my extra time--get coffee, a newspaper, sit in a cafe...whatever. And I NEVER rush. I just leave plenty of time to get where I am going. If I am running late, it has to do with circumstances out of my control like the traffic.

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
I'm always early. Now if it is something DH and I have to do together, I'm late because of him. I've already decided to tell him Christmas eve starts an hour earlier than it really does.

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
I am usually early..which annoys me bc I am always the first person and waiting for people I dread being late..
I can totally see if you have a baby or young children why you would run a cple minutes late, but I find it rude when people are constantly late for no apparent reason!

Late. It's a horrible flaw that I really do need to correct. It does show a lack of respect to the person waiting.

Same here.
Lateness is an enormous pet peeve of mine, probably because I am so busy. No, I don't want people speeding or something to avoid being 5 minutes late for coffee -- but I really hate when people are habitually 15, 30, or more minutes late. Of course things sometimes come up and you run a few minutes late... but I find habitual lateness disrespectful.

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
I hate being late. I get to work early every day, even if there is traffic. I leave plenty of extra time. I am typically early to things, but I try not to do that for parties, b/c then I end up standing around waiting for people. I really, really like to be on time though.

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
Always punctual. It relates to what we said about people with "no time." At the end of the day, you are what you do. If I am late I am screaming to someone else that I am more important than they are. If I claim to have no time, but then I find it for stupid things, I am chossing to prioritize the stupid things over the things I claim I wish I had the time to do. It's all about accountability.

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
i am always on time if not early but if i do run late i call way before i was supposed to be somewhere and update.
My pet peeve is at work, now i understand having kids can be challenging at times getting them up and ready and to daycare (which is right at work) but to be 45 minutes late 3-4 x's a week DRIVES ME INSANE! And they get away with it all the time. Grrr...

Re: Spinoff to not having time--LATENESS
It very much depends. Interviews, meetings, appointments, dinners at someone's house, or meeting a small group of people somewhere: early
For parties where I know there are a lot of people: I like to be fashionably late, i.e. 30 mins late
For happy hours, and other lax things: on time to a few minutes late.

I'm early for nearly everything, but sometimes even I can't help it and I end up being there as a mtg begins or a few min late.

Ditto. My dh HATES when people are late. I would say that most of the time there is NO reason for someone to be late.

same here - I figure, I can control that (except for unexpected traffic etc), so if it is in my control I try to be on time or early.
