Spinoff to parking...Parking in fire zones?

Is this EVER acceptable? Is it acceptable if there's another person in the vehicle who can move it if need be?

Do I do it, no. Doesn't bother me if someone else does AS LONG as there is someone in the car to move it should the need arise. If you just park it unmanned, I hope there is a fire and they have to put the hose through the windows of your car.

NEVER EVER acceptable!!! So annoying!!!

At RF mall people do this all the time. You can barely get by between the idiots parking in the fire lane and the other idiots parking in a non space at the end of the aisle. I wish I could just ram my car into theirs to make it move! Chat Icon

The "security" at the mall just beeps at them and moves on. The county would make a $hitload of money ticketing people at every shopping center.

If you're a diabetic and have to run into the supermarket real quick to get a banana without paying for it and the pregnant parking is already taken- then yes.

Do feral cats count as another person in the car?

I don't think there is a reason to ever do this, maybe going into a hospital with a dire emergency, but even then it would be to drop someone off and get someone to assist them while another person then went and parked the car. I don't think you should park though.

I have only if I dropped someone off or picked someone up.

Or if someone is walking out with a huge box to bring to my car.

I was yelled at in parking lot of Walmart by a security guard. I was told to move my car up there while they brought out my treadmill.

There is one guard in parking lot of Pier 1/Old Navy/Trader Joes in Lake Grove that is always yelling at people.

Re: Spinoff to parking...Parking in fire zones?

Never acceptable.

DH will drop me off in front of a store and then move somewhere else to wait for me.
I've used it to get my mom and her wheelchair out of my car, parked her on the sidewalk, then moved my car into a parking spot.

I love watching cars get towed for parking in the fire zone.
Then when the owners get upset for being towed and blame everyone else for their laziness/stupidity.
Just hilarious.

Re: Spinoff to parking...Parking in fire zones?

I have a bad memory of parking in a fire zone.
I parked in the zone once, not knowing it was a fire zone .
We had just moved to our new place, I was 40 weeks pregnant, due in 2 days, it was a very hot August day , I wasn't feeling well, could barely walk at that point so even taking few steps was painful, baby was pushing down...I needed to go pick up meds from a pharmacy, I always saw/see cars parked in the zone, with no one in the car , even police cars (there is DD next to the pharmacy) so for whatever reason I thought it was ok, I parked the car, went in, signed and picked up my medicine, came out not even 5 minutes later and there was a cop getting out of his car to write a ticket, I asked him very nicely , but he gave me a $100+ ticket anyway. He saw my surprise when I realized it was a fire zone, turns out there is a sign on the wall, high up (you don't really look up unless someone points to it) but there is no sign anywhere else.
Now every time I go to that pharmacy I get annoyed when I see lines of cars parked there , especially when it's cop cars, sometimes I see the cops inside DD sitting down, taking a break I guess and there is their car parked in the fire zone, not sure if it's ok for them to park there , but it annoys me anyway Chat Icon
