spinoff to scary movie post...Paranormal Activity
Are these just regular movies made to look like a documentary? They look really scary from the clips I see, but I can't quite understand if it is movie or documentary or home video based on something????

My DH forced me to watch Paranormal 2 a few nights ago. I basically listened to it because I refused to look at the TV and kept a blanket over my head... occasionally peeking through the holes in the blanket. And I would make him describe for me what he was seeing.

Paranormal Activity was so scary, i literally had to shut the movie off. I was getting a panic attack. and the new commercial for Paranoraml 3 is so frightening, i change the channel!

The funny thing is I always did the same thing when the commercials come on. So DH thought it would be funny to put it on one night... the second on is available streaming on Netflix. He put it on to torture me.... HE ENDED UP FREAKED OUT! I wasn't even looking at the TV for any part of the movie that was not taking place during the daytime. So he got freaked out and wanted to turn it off... but I made him watch the rest of it!

Yeah, it's a regular low budget movie.
ETA: Paranormal Activity 2 and 3 are higher budget though and don't really remind me of a documentary at all. You almost believe it in the first one.

 This happened with my DH, too! He was watching it and I was on the computer, trying to ignore it, but the couple in it is funny. So I was half watching it. By the end of it, DH and I both were both on the chair in the living room (not even the couch lol!) clinging to each other and hiding under a blanket. BOTH of us.  He swears he wasn't scared though.

I only saw the first one...not the second. The trailer on the 3rd one scares the heck out of me...when the little girls are doing bloody mary in the mirror and when they walk out, that shadow is there..

I have moments where I'm scared out of my mind that the attic light in my closet will turn on by itself.
I think these movies just tap into something that we are already afraid of.

I refused to watch any of the Paranormal Activity movies. I knew I'd never be able to stay alone in my house if I saw them. My husband watched it downstairs and I was getting scared just listening to it.
