Spinoff to school supplies, anyone want to share their list?
Having no experience sending a child to public school I had no idea what to expect but I was blown away by this list. When we moved OOS I specifically chose this particular area because of the school district's reputation. Unfortunately our school districts budget was slashed $13million last year and has to be cut another $13million this year so it appears they're relying on parents to stock the classrooms. Not looking forward to finding out how else they're making due with the loss of so much $$$. Just wanted to see how this list compares with others. I know I live OOS but still curious how it holds out with long island schools.
Notes: 1. Please do not label school supplies. 2. Rolling backpacks are not allowed. 3. Some supplies, such as pencils, crayons and sanitizer, may need to be replenished during the course of the school year.

Re: Spinoff to school supplies, anyone want to share their list?
My two are done with Kindergarten, but they go to a private school. They were not required to bring in ANY supplies at all. The teacher did ask for $40 in the beginning of the year and I gladly paid. Nothing was asked of us again.
In grades 1-8, a supply list is sent home at end of school year and you can order them through PTA or get them yourself. Lists are not crazy and they average $40 through PTA (which is probably double if you went yourself and got the supplies cheaply).
