Spinoff to standing in crib/CIO

Marron has been screaming for almost an hour now!!! Chat Icon I have gone in twice to try to calm her down and to lie her back down. Should I not be trying to calm/comfort her? Is that just making it worse? Like she thinks it is over and then gets thrown back into the fire again, just to get more and more upset?

How does everybody else handle this? Do you clean DC's face/nose and calm the hysteria? Or do you just lie them back down and leave the room with them still screaming?

She was sick last week but not really anymore. This is the regular nighttime scenario since she got sick last week. When she was sick I definately comforted her. Now I don't know what I should be doing.

Please help us...she's still screaming. Chat Icon

ETA: Oh G*d...I think it's over! All I hear now is her lullaby music which I haven't heard since 9:25. That makes 55 mins of crying for tonight. Does it get worse before it gets better?

Re: Spinoff to standing in crib/CIO

How often are you going in? When I put DD in the crib and she is crying, I set the timer for 5 mins. Then go in and pat her and tell her "its ok" and I leave. I set the time again but this time for 10 mins and do the same thing. If she's stll crying, I set the timer for 15 mins and then 20mins and repeat the whole thing. She's usually asleep by then.

If she is hysterical, I cant let her get that way. I go get her, hold her until she calms down and then put her back in her crib. I dont leave her room with her and I dont put the light on (she sleeps with a nightlight).

It does. I always made the mistake of trying to calm him down which just set him off again. I failed miserably with this.

Hope this is the first break in last week's habit.
