Crib rails that don't drop
Does anyone have a crib where the rails don't drop? We do, and currently dropped the mattress, but it makes it very uncomfortable to pickup/put down the baby having to reach over the high railing every time... AND I'm tall!
How do people get around that? The crib converts into a toddler bed... would that be my option, with something additional?

Mine also doesnt drop, and the mattress is down all the way. And I'm 7 months pregnant, so its getting tough to get my daughter in and out, but she is also getting so tall, so its not TOO bad. Ours also converts into a bed, but we are saving it for the new baby and bought Genevieve a new toddler bed. She is not ready for it yet!

Re: Crib rails that don't drop
Ours doesn't drop and I can't put Noah into it when my back hurts. I can put him in sitting up, but not laying down. I wish I had bought one with drop down sides now....even though I adore my gorgeous crib, it was a cheapy and I will probably get a drop down one with the next baby!

Re: Crib rails that don't drop
I have a stationery crib too. I haven't had an issue with it yet, but then again i haven't dropped the mattress just yet.
I am also pg and only 5'3'', so i know I will have problems!
I plan on getting one of those wooden step stools that look like stairs, you know the kind that you can use to help you get onto a really high bed?
One of those thingys so i can reach dd when she is laying down and put her down in her crib when i am big and pg and can't reach her.

Re: Crib rails that don't drop
My crib doesn't drop either and I didn't even think to take that into consideration when we bought it. I had a hell of time putting DS in after my c-section. I'm concerned about when we drop the mattress too and I'm kind of on the tall side too.
No suggestions, but I'm with you!

Re: Crib rails that don't drop
A step stool? DH tried a ladder this morning, and he said it didn't work... but you know men! lol I'll try to see if that works, tonight, and if so, then I'll probably look into a step stool. Thanks for the suggestion, Charly!

a step stool definitely helps. just make sure you get one with wide enough steps so you don't lose your balance.
Good luck

Re: Crib rails that don't drop
Mine doesn't drop either and we just lowered the mattress all the way down. I thought it would be difficult, but it's really not for me and I'm only 5'7" so not too tall. I was going to suggest a stool also. The ones with the steps look like they would be really awkward to use though, especially if you were holding a sleeping baby. I had second thoughts about our crib after I got it, but a friend of mine who has the drop sides told me that she never drops the rails so I felt better after that.
