Spinoff to transitioning to toddler bed
How long does it take for them to adjust to one? We plan on starting DS in his in April so he gets used to it before the baby comes. I am not looking forward to this.

I had no problems at all. We made a really big deal about his new room and he was excited about it. He actually slept right in his new room the first night we put him in there. He loved it.

I am just concerned b/c DS will only be 18 months when we transition him.

That's how old my son was when we transitioned him. (My kids are only 22 months apart).

I was terrified that my DS was going to roam around the house in the middle of the night, but he turned out okay. Just keep building up your son about his NEW EXCITING new place. He will love it!

Do you keep his door closes at night?

Yes. I do.
But if you don't want to do that, then get a gate to put at the door and leave his door open. So just in case he decides to get out of his bed, he can't get out of his room.

Re: Spinoff to transitioning to toddler bed
I put my DS in a toddler bed at 15 months and he was great at night but he wouldnt stay in there for naps, he would just play with his toys. He has a gate that is always there and swings both ways, when he wakes up he just waits at the gate and calls for me. Dont forget to remove everything your baby can get into and climb on from the room.

Re: Spinoff to transitioning to toddler bed
it took my girls about 2 weeks to fully get used to it..i have twins so sometimes Reese finds her way into Sydney bed. We put a gate up in the door to their room so they can't leave their room and wonder around. They are doing great now it's been about 1 month and all is well.
