spinoff: When did your DC start taking showers?

DD loves to watch me take showers And I was contemplating starting to let her take showers, slowly with me and then by herself??? How old were they???

I started around a year old.. I would shower and theyd join me nad would sit in the shower and play while I did my thing and then I'd wash, scrub and rinse them off..

Now at 2, 4 and 6 they have mastered it alone. I usually put the girls in together (2 and 4). My son has been showering solo for over a year now.. he likes his privacy lol

I love them getting and enjoying their baths but this momma works and can't do the soak in the tub thing for 30 minutes for each of them..

I started bringing DD in the shower with me around a year old since she was able to walk/stand on her own.

DS has been coming in the shower with me when we're rushed and/or we skip his nightime bath. He loves it so much that his mightime bath more often than not turns into a shower instead. He likes to stand under the water. He doesn't wash himself though, we still scrub him down but he stands in there and plays, he's 2.

Ryan started when we dormered and lost our upstairs bathroom with the tub - he was about 18.5 months and has been showering ever since. It is a rare occasion he gets in the bath - that's more work for us, esp with the two of them in there.

We just started having Colin go in - he's 17 months tomorrow. The first few times he didn't care for it but just this week he started getting brave enough to stand under the water and walk around in there.

ETS: This is when they went in on their own. We showered with them a bit earlier but not consistently b/c it was more work than a tub

DD is 3 and watches me shower...but WILL NOT shower...she hates having water hit her head like that (ive tried the shower head in the bath since it comes down)

i think she will be taking baths only until shes old and grey the way she is going.

Around 2. I was pregnant and it was really hard to reach over the tub. At first I brought her in with me and then I let her take them by herself while I was in the bathroom. She liked it for a while and now she freaks and only will take a bath.

I think I'm going to try taking her in with me...I'm pregnant and its getting harder to reach over our tub!!!

About 18 months. We would come home from the beach and I got into the shower with her. Now she lives the shower. She calls it "rain." I always ask her if she wants a bath or rain. She chooses evenly.

DD is 8.5 months and I started bringing her in the shower with me about a month ago. She will sit on the floor while I shower, then I pick her up and get her washed.

At a little over 2, she loves it! I usually shampoo her hair and get body wash on loofa for her

DD would watch me all the time & then one day said she wanted to try. I let her & she loved it (for a couple of weeks). Then all of sudden now she says she doesn't like it & wants baths all the time. I too think it's the water on the head she doesn't like.

DD is going to be 5 and loves her baths. I dont see her giving them up anytime soon. Shes not crazy about the shower water hitting her head when she goes in with me the few times weve done that.

For all of you that say that your child showers...do you mean by themselves or with you???

Also, if it is by themselves, at what age did you start that??

DS just started showering at almost 4. By himself... I stand right outside the shower... peeking in. I never showered with him.

DS started showering w/ DH when he was about 10 months old. He kept climbing out of the tub, so...This works well--DH holds him and cleans him, and then he plays with the bottles on the shower floor until DH is done. DS is 21 months.

DD is almost 4 and just started showers in the last month. A few months back, I was showering and asked if she wanted to come in with me....she said yes, but it was no fun for either of us Just a cramped space, she didn't want the water smacking her in the face (understandably), etc. Then randomly DH asked her if she wanted to take a shower instead of a bath the other week, and she said yes...so he stands outside the shower and still washes her hair, body, etc but she is rinsed off with the sprayer.

They never really liked it until about age 4, and closer to 5 for my son. They all love the bath, so we have to alternate and tell them weather its a shower or bath night or they'd sit in the tub for hours every night.

Both mine quit the bath and started showers around age 3. Much easier, I have the shower head that comes down so it makes it easier to rinse their hair and such. They shower themselves, I of course, help wash hair and do a thorough rinse before they get out.
