Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
Mine was not--again, c/s.
However, if it were a vaginal birth, neither one of us wished for him to be down on the business end of things

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
Not mine. I didn't want him "front and center" and he didn't want to be there either. But my mom was and videotaped the whole birth. Afterwards, my DH watched the tape.

He was holding my left leg throughout the 3 hours of pushing and Vax.
He compared the smell to that of gutting a deer and said it was the grossest most incredible and exciting moment of his life.

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
Mine was, although I didn't really want him to! But then the nurse asked him to grab a leg. I thought that's all he was doing was holding my leg, but he was actually watching the whole childbirth, including the episiotomy

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
no way ! i made sure he was looking at me the whole time, even when the doctor said "look you can see the head" he kept his eyes on me. i don't think he would recover if he would have been front and center.

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
My Dh watched the whole c-section! As the Doctor was laying my insides on my outsides he started giving me a full description. The Doctor told him to STOP IT!!!! He also told him to please stop looking over his shoulder! He's like "do you like people looking over your shoulder when you are working?"

He was there but by my side and I think pretty focused on me so not really front and center. Plus it's all a blur to him the same as it is to me.

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
For my c/s, he sat right next to my head and held my hand. Then he got up to cut the cord and I remember him telling me he saw a little too much that day
For the VBAC, it was funny, he didn't want to take a look at any point. He stayed way up by my head, and with the sheet draped over my knees, it formed a tent and he couldn't see anything. When the doctor said she was coming out, I think he hid his head in my pillow My placenta was delivered with the next contraction and he looked so pale when he saw the doctor toss it in the metal container and poke at it

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
My hunk of burning love was there, again, he was quite freaked out about the baby coming out of my vagina thing, but he eventually got over it.
I think he was more scarred by the laughing gas...I had a total out of body experience and after I managed to pull myself out of my crack fuelled haze to tell him that it was a bit like being in a Prince song.
And we are still together. And my vagina is fine.

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
My DH was front and center so to speak. He was supportive yet did go to watch her head coming out and then the rest of her. It kind of weirded me out that we wanted to see everything I did not even want to.

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
Once her head started crowning he became fascinated and planted himself front and center. Before that he was in charge of supporting my head and leg, then I got abandoned!

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
He was as far up by my head as he could get. He moved down a little when he needed to hold my leg, and when she was being born they told him to look and he did without thinking and said he saw a lot more than he ever wanted to. With Andy he stayed up by my shoulder the whole time and would only look at the doctor's face.

Re: Spinoff--whose DH was "front and center" for the birth?!
He was by my side, holding a leg on occasion & saying "You're pushing wrong"...ok I was pushing wrong but when did he grow a uterus & push a baby out Oh...and then commented that the women screaming her lungs out in the next room was "going to beat me" (I'm not a screamer when in pain.) I looked at him in astonishment & said "This is a race? I still beat her I'm 6 weeks early"
For Maddie, he missed the birth but got up in time to see her on the french fry warmer & catch of glimpse of them sewing me up. I'm sure that wasn't his preferred view.
