Spinoff...Big Q for working moms...
Do you tell DH when you spend money? Do you have "seperate money."
For us, it's all mine 
DH is not a big spender and I pay all the bills. He gets a set amount to spend for the week, as do I. If I want anything, I just buy it. IF he wants anything, he ususally takes it out of his money for the week, but he doesn't have to. As I said, he rarely spends beyond lunch, cigarettes, etc.

No I don't tell him. He notices that I get new things but doesnt' really question it. I guess he figures since I do the bills I know what we can spend. Luckily he doesn't spend much above lunch/gas etc.

When i did work and had my 1st and even before kids when we were just married, we only have 1 joint account. What's mine is his, his is mine. We have separate ones for the girls.

We don't have separate money - everything is joined into shared accounts. We each have a credit card in our own name but put the other person on as an additional card holder.
I do pretty much all of the shopping and spending  . DH only buys lunch once in a while and a few things here and there.
I completely make out on this - he makes more money than me but I get it all  And he never really comes down on my spending 1-because I try to be smart and 2-because he would rather not shop so all of the basics, gifts, home needs, clothing..everything shopping related is up to me. I like this

It's together for the most part. DH started his own law practice 6 months ago and still has not regularly started paying himself. He'll contribute a different amount every month, but I don't count on anything from him for household expenses. If he needs cash, he'll just transfer it from the joint account. I do most of the shopping, but if he buys stuff he'll just his spending money if it's under $100.

We have joint accounts and separate accounts, however we are both feel "what's mine is yours and what's yours is mine"
Not quite sure why we keep our separate checking accounts. I think it was for gift giving purposes or something silly like that
All our accounts are linked and we both have each other's passwords. We only have amex and are on the same account. So we both know what we are each always buying/spending.
Besides we are both CPA's and are always checking the $ and budgeting (so I can try to go PT) - there are no secrets or surprises in this house
