I think that it affects DH & I a lot! We both had such a great childhood filled with traveling, sports, friends and family, laughing, sleepovers, etc. It was just wonderful. And I hope and pray that i will be able to give that all to our children one day. We both want a huge family because that is what we both have. Children are around us all the time and we can't get enough of them.

Both dh and I had good childhoods and cannot wait to have kids
there are definitely things from our childhoods that we would like to recreate and others we would not
eta - we are both from large families (im the oldest of five and dh is the youngest of five) and I think that may be why we are so excited to start our own someday

Funny you should mention this.
About a year ago, when I was pregnant - I had a very candid conversation with my mother. She had a terrible childhood absolutely awful. Very sad, violent, very poor.
She told me that for the longest time she had no desire whatsoever to get married or have children.
Obviously things changed. My childhood was a lot different - while I had some sad times - it had nothing to do with my parents. I had a wonderful upbringing and I could not want more the same exact relationship I have with my parents with my own children. My mother's experiences shaped her into who she was and she knew who she didn't want to be - and she instilled that into me as well.
