SPR - Personal Trainer and VERY INAPPROPRIATE & GRAPHIC comment - WARNING

So now that I'm in my second trimester and feeling better, I decided to go back to the gym. I got myself 5 personal training sessions.

My 2nd session with the trainer was Wednesday. He is male and young (maybe 25)

As I was waiting for him, the manager of my gym came over and asked how I was feeling and commented on how great it was that I was back in the gym. He also said that exercising throughout would really help with labor. And I responded "yes, but I'm having a c-section, and I'm thrilled about avoiding the whole labor process and everything else that goes with it. I'm not good with the pain and gore and god knows what else".

At this point my trainer came by and overheard and chimed in with "yeah, I heard your clitoris could explode and come detached"Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

WHAT???????

So, he sees my face and CONTINUES with "oh, don't worry, they can reattach it and I don't think you lose any sensation."Chat Icon

At which point I said "ok, can you please stop? This is really not appropriate".

The rest of the session went fine. And he's otherwise a nice guy, and a good trainer, but honestly, I am really uncomfortable at the thought of my next session, which is today at 2.

Should I say something to him, the manager? Get a new trainer?

I feel bad bc I go to a small gym where everyone knows each other, sees each other working out and I don't necessarily want to get him in trouble.

I do know from the first session that his girlfriend is a nurse, and he is studyin nutrition and anatomy, and does often speak about how the body works, graphically, but always related to the muscles, tendons and training, so I don't know if he comment was completely out of left field.

It just left me feeling yucky.

i would probably just let it go now. you already told him his comment was inappropriate. if he made another wacked comment, however, i would consider changing trainers.

I would just forget it.

Sorry but I actually LOL at that comment. It just sounds like a weird immature comment from a guy who knows apparently nothing about having a baby!

So me laughing about it would just be me chalking it up to a stupid comment...moving along.

I'd chalk it up to another stupid thing a guy said.

***!?

That is the most random thing I have ever heard Chat Icon

I agree w/PP, I think if he is otherwise "normal" and doesn't make crude comments, I would let it go for now (chalk it up to a severe brain lapse Chat Icon) ...BUT if he says ONE more thing, definitely tell the manager that he is very inappropriate and get a new trainer

Re: SPR - Personal Trainer and VERY INAPPROPRIATE & GRAPHIC comment - WARNING

I think if it were any another guy, I would let it go, but the fact is, this is a one on one personal trainer that I am paying A LOT of money to use.

I just can't wipe the comment from my head and it's such an intimate (ok, not quite the right word, but you get my drift) setting to be in, with one on one training.

Would it be bad if I didn't mention why, but asked if I could continue my remaining sessions with a female trainer, bc i feel she would be better suited for my needs?

Of course, Def if you arent comfortable.

You said its still not sitting well with you so you arent ok with it at all.
I know a lot of ppl choose a female over male trainers, in general.

WHATTTTTT

He actually said that??!??!

And why were'nt we told that??Chat Icon

I personally would continue going to him and look up really disgusting things to tell him....

Like, if he starts to lift weights be like "Wow, be careful, a piece of your intestine can detatch and become permanately lodged in your ball making you have a indefinite erection"Chat Icon But you can fix it with surgury"

Or bring up protein shakes and stuff and be like "I hear if u take those you get small balls"

I dont know, I would be a brat but thats just me......

Yeah, I would mention that as of right now you are going through some "personal pregnancy issues" and would rather a female...

If they push the issue just say "Well, she'll understand if i have to pee myself every five minutes"

I didnt realize you were paying EXTRA for him...Chat Icon

Chat Icon what an idiot to say something like that to you! I am a pretty conservative person, but I would probably chalk that one up to him being a dingbat. If he continures to make you uncomfortable or makes any other inappropriate comments I would do something more. Sorry he made you uncomfortableChat Icon

I would have laughed so hard, I'd pee myself.

Poor kid: he has no idea. I'd say "Noooooooo..." I wonder if his mom told him that, or it was a "guy" conversation... I could see it:

"Yeah... and then, the girl's clit** explodes!"

ITA b/c the comment is so freaking DUMB that it doesn't seem like he said it in a skeezy type "inappropriate" way (although of course we know it WAS inappropriate), kwim?

If he actually thinks things like this he likely doesn't even realize it is wrong to SAY them...

That said, I would let it go but of course see how the next session goes and if you're uncomfortable then it's a waste to keep on w/ him.

This was my first thought... It sounds like something that my idiot guy friends from college would talk about on a wasted night.

I do not blame you one bit for wanting to change trainers! I'm surprised so many people would just brush it off! That comment is seriously bizarre on so many levels - first of all, it's completely false (what, is he 12 years old?), secondly, it's so personal, it's extremely socially awkward to even say that, thirdly, it's really unprofessional of him to say something like that to you as his client. I would be extremely creeped out too and would definitely not work with him again. I wouldn't want to sweat around him. You don't want to lift a weight and your cl*toris explode. Chat Icon

ITA....highly highly inappropriate and no way I would stick with him as my trainer. There are just some things that are NOT ok to talk about with someone you barely know. He totally skeeves me actually Chat Icon
