SPR: Food shopping
Now that I am on maternity leave for a year, our budget is obviously tighter than usual. I used to get Newsday every Sunday so I could clip coupons, but I was finding that the coupons in Sunday's Newsday were mostly for things I WASN'T buying. I know I could save a TON of money by clipping coupons, and even printing them out on the internet. Can anyone suggest some helpful tips to cutting costs at the food store? Any good websites for printing out coupons? And do you think I should get the Sunday Newsday again and give it another shot?

Re: SPR: Food shopping
i do alot of bargain hunting... i will honestly go to two or three stores a week just to save... and i do look into store brands for some things.... for example, stop and shop today had their oatmeal 2 for $4... the name brand was 4.20 for one box.... they also had the dollar doubler coupons in the papre last week so i combined then with my 1dollar coupons on items on sale...
when it is time for baby food beechnut offeres a great rebate for turning in the upcs....
diapers are typically cheepest at bjs and i always look for their coupons...
i live for my sunday coupons and certain items i will buy ahead of time if i can get time on sale with a coupon.. such as peanut butter or cookies or paper products

Re: SPR: Food shopping
one thing that I have started doing is going to the website for each item on my list and checking to see if they have any coupons.
I go through the flyers to check out the sales each week. For me, I find that Pathmark has the best sales/prices on the stuff I buy regularly. Plus they always double coupons 99 cents and under. (FYI - Waldbaums does NOT accept internet coupons)
I make my list from the flyers and then I go to the websites like I mentioned above. I have found SO many coupons this way and most times they are doubled.
I go to BJs for formula and diapers
